In reality, unless you've been in this situation before, you don't know how you'd react. Those who say they do, think they do, but they don't.

Nicely said, I would further add that unless you are a parent you truly wouldn't appreciate the lengths we would go to protecting our kids.

Like pounding back half a bottle first?

It obviously didnt shock these parent's too much if they had to go for a few nightcaps first. [B-o]

If someone molested my kids there would be no need for booze, I would do what needs to be done. I liken dealing with molesters like putting down a rabid dog, no more no less and I honestly don't care if that offends people. Cheers.

The people of Canada are sick of slap on the wrist justice, the comments on this topic show that like myself we have no faith in our justice system. I do however have faith in the fear of god put into young people, when I grew up this type of justice happened all the time it was accepted as a normal punishment we didn't commit crime because we got a shit kicking and it wouldn't be just the Fathers handing out the shit kickings any molesters would have been fair game for a beating by just about anybody

I remember getting the strap at school and you didn't dare tell mom and dad because that would get you a second whipping!

Like I said in an earlier post, does anyone in this country know of a rehabilitated pedophile? No! Simple conclusion, the Justice System does not work on these kind of Creeps.
Every single one of them you read about or see on the news is a REAPEAT OFFENDER WHO HAS DONE TIME FOR IT IN THE PAST, some with so many convictions I wonder how they live with themselves.

They could have been tried as adults and then put on the mandatory Sex Offender Registration.

Without that and intensive treatment, which IMO doesnt work for S.O. but at least can learn coping skills to control the desire, then they will continue to offend and escalate. Cant scare it out of them.

They don't have to be "tried as adults." Young offenders can be put on the sex offender registry as well. They should have been charged for what they did, but it's unclear if they were. Maybe the father decided putting his 6 year old through a trial was too much so nothing happened in that respect. Sad. Hardest part in these cases is getting a child victim to testify about what happened.

They dont need the child to take the stand, it can all be done with video interview.

There is some information missing in this story.

I'd like to know how the 'act' took place between the child and the boys and how she told her father. Was she physically forced or coerced or was this part of a game?

I know this doesn't change the fact that what the boys did was wrong, but it has a big impact on how this was perceived by the child and how this may affect her in the future.

Was she ashamed when she told her father, angry, sad? Did she know or sense it was wrong?

If the child felt this was part of a game and was not 'adversely' affected by the act, the father's reaction may have a worse effect on her then the act itself. Staying calm in front of the child and maybe having a little talk would be the better thing to do. Then you go see the boys...

At the age the boys are, they should have known better, but I don't think that this is a guarantee that they'll grow up to be sex offenders. They'll need a psychological evaluation and counseling. As for punishment, they already got part of it, let's see what the courts decide for the rest of it.

Side story:
I played "you show me yours and I'll show you mine" when I was young and I think that most (or a lot of) children go through this phase at a young age without it negatively affecting their future sexual development (it may even have a positive effect but I'm too lazy to do an Internet search). Kids are naturally curious and I guess it's probably better for them to satisfy this curiosity (with kids their own age). Normally, it doesn't go any further than this. "OK, I've seen it, lets get on with my life".

Most times, the kids are close to the same age though.

Good post, raydan.

I know I'm late getting back to this subject.
I was afraid that the idea I was trying to communicate wouldn't get through.
Even at my age, I still need to work on expressing myself, especially when writing.
I'm a guy after all so it's understandable.
