I'm shocked that the very people who are supposed to protect us behave in this manner. I hope these guys lose their jobs and have to deliver papers for the rest of their lives when they get out of prison.
I hope the victim has a good lawyer who sues these three guys (I don't want to call them police officers and insult the rest of the force). This definitely was a hate crime.

He's suspended with pay and they say this.

$1:
"We're trying to keep things as safe as possible for people in this town."

Innocent untill proven guilty I know which begs the question...did the taxi driver lie?

When will it hit youtube?
Someone must have a vid!

I typed vancouver police beatings into the youtube search bar and was surprised at what I saw.

Hmmm, where are all the 'cop groupies' when you really need them? It'd be kind of interesting to see if any of them have enough creativity to turn the tide around and convince us how the pressures of serving and protecting a most thankless population finally pushed them over the deep end and how we should just ignore this incident, give them another much-deserved chance and focus on all the good things they do.

Here's what's really scary.Damned if I can find it but I for sure remember on this youtube video of this cop taped assaulting a handcuffed suspect only for him to state under oath of course 'It appears to be me on that tape but I do not recall doing that'. And unless we be more vocal of police misconduct it'll be only a matter of time before cop-friendly juries give the benefit of the doubt. And if anyone can find that vid please post it. I can't find it to save my soul.

And so, two of the three have been charged;

one with robbery, read: theft with violence,

the other with assault.

The third, the flatfeet state, was attempting to cause a 'cease and desist' with his pals.

I have some issues with this story.

1) The officers are consistently being referred to as "off duty". A police officer may be out of uniform and "off the clock", but they are never off duty. Being a police officer is more than a job, more than a career, its a way of life.

2) I don't believe this attack was racially motivated, despite what Mr. Khan says.

3) I'm not going to join the bigoted lynch mob unless there is some mis-carriage of justice. That hasn't happened yet.

This is a weird one. The whole thing seems very bizarre and I agree that the racially motivated thing seems bogus. I saw an interview by the local CTV station and the cabbie was saying, "They were kicking him and saying they didn't like brown people."

Come on, if you are so far off the police planet that you are randomly beating civilians after a night on the piss, you are hardly gonna be kicking the guy as you chant, "We don't like brown people!"

Sorry but racists would be way more likely to Prince Harry's "P" word. That interview bothered me.
There is something else on the go here and I'm not sure what it is. Something just doesn't read right on this.

I'm not saying that I don't believe that there are a few idiot cops capable of the assault part but it just seems, well too weird.

Once again, similar to the airport fiasco, I'm just happy someone independant was around to report it. There is no doubt in my mind that both of those would have simply vanished if it weren't for average folks paying attention.

Agree with you completely. Thank God for those witnesses who happened to be around. One of them even said on TV that he was afraid to stop the "cops" from beating Mr. Khan.

For sure, like Ferguson who shot the kid here in "self defense" in the jail cell, once in the head and once in the back.He was convicted of manslaughter, got house arrest, appealed, reappealed and was again charged and got 2 more years house arrest.
When they had the funeral for the kid in pincher creek the cops set up checkstops on the road to the cemetary.
That was a real class act that one.
The RCMP sure didnt get themselves any brownie points for that stunt, protecting that cop and harrassing the family only went to show the double standard.
