I found it much higher. I only know of 1 'bad cop' in all my experiences with many tens of cops. And he wasn't really 'bad', he was just an ass.

And come the 11th, I'll increase that number by at least 10, most of whom will be really drunk. But ALL of them will have a ride home.

So 2 or so cops charged. Not let off, charged. Cops who break the law get charged and go to court. If they are found 'not guilty' it's no different than any other citizen being found not guilty. They are not being 'let off'.
It's our justice system.
You have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a person is guilty of the crime they have been charged with.

Simple stuff really.

And to make another point Eyebrock, giving officers 'paid leave'; while it is good that the assumption of innocence is there, people such as myself see it as they are expected to return to duty at some point in the future.

Sorry, if I got caught blowing over the limit in a company vehicle, my ass would be fired, conviction or not.

The law is the law. All Police dealing with officers who break the law can do is follow the law.

I'm reading that exactly the same way. Some low-life, petty criminal who is too stupid to actually succeed at a life of crime, who gets busted everytime he tries to rob the 7-11 where he parks his cardboard box he calls a home.

Same here. I've found cops to be awesome as long as you aren't a dick to them, probably cause they are so used to being treated like dicks.

I am glad your experience was different, there are a few good cops out there I just havent met many. There was this one little nfld cop though and she was nice

Yeah it really is when they were found not guilty because of "insert random ass covering statement here" evidence missing,some technicality,suspended with pay, "fired" (transferred,desk duty)

Yeah which seems allot harder to do when dealing with a cop, compared to how easy it is when dealing with a regular civilian, things that shouldn't slide do and i refuse to believe that it doesn't happen. Why in gods name would it take 1-2 years for a cop to go from crime to trial to free when it only takes 6-12 months for average Joe to go from crime to trial to jail

The RCMP are notoriously bad at PR Brenda.
Ontario police services pro-actively release all details on any service member charged with a criminal offence. It’s so police are seen to be transparent on these things and really, it’s the only way to do business.

With the RCMP not releasing this wankers name, it just looks like a cover-up to the public they serve, bad move again by the RCMP.

Another thing, although I can see the justification for releasing this guy on a ‘promise to appear’, if I was making the decision I would have held him for bail and let the courts take the heat for releasing him.

The public image of the RCMP is the shits because of decisions like this and I have to shake my head at this whole incident and how it’s perceived by the media and the public.

Oh, and we will know. I would think this guy will be a scape goat for all that ails the RCMP's image and he'll be getting a good chink of time before he is fired.

Gave a few of our guys a ride home the other night myself...god it sucks sometimes to be a DD.

I work day in and day out with officers and have come across assholes for sure, but never to this extent.

oct 31 on bctv news another rcmp nailed for drunk driving last dec ... No news release totally covered up to the public.. and the court record seemed to have went missing..... They should be getting good at this there getting enough practices .....
