Oh well hack fest it is then.

RUEZ RUEZ:

Nope. Zig and I always post these same digs at each other everytime this subject pops up.

For once it would be nice to see you post that right after ridenhack posts his usual anti-Liberal/anti-Chretien crying posts.

Actually i'm directing it at you for posting this:
$1:
To bad its just an excuse as you right wingers have nothing but excuses.
I for one am more concerned about the future of the country and the economy. This isn't about pointing fingers, we need to make our government do what's right for our country regardless of who's in power. If Harper can't do it then we'll have to find someone that can.

I agree totally,we have to fix this together and keep the politic's out of it for once allthough it's fun to watch Derby get his blood pressure up when I mention the EI fund. Plus the hack-fest is kind of entertaining sometimes.

Time to look forward, work together to keep Canada from taking the same hit's as the rest of the world.

So far,were doing good.
Better then most of the free world.

I don't get my blood pressure up. Seems to me that you kinda freak out when anybody posts about liberal budget wizardry without needing to make up stories about EI fund stealing.

Like I told RUEZ, its a standard dig between us as we both know we won't change each others mind.

Well, I think one of the many reasons for the Conservatives current failings in handling the economy is their inability to learn from the previous Liberal government's economic record. After all, the previous Liberal government was able to pay down the $42 Billion dollar deficit that they inherited from Mulroney. Let's face it, they just do a better job with the economy than the Conservatives.

You do get your dander up though anytime the EI fund and the pillaging of it is mentioned. Nothing to brag about when your beating your chest and bragging about taking down the deficit useing insurance funds for workers who paid into it for that reason.

So,I saw what happened, workers denied benefits and the libs beating their chests on how their taking down the deficit, useing these peoples contributions.

So that's why we will never agree on the EI theft.

If I get my dander up then you get yourself worked into a lather.

While I agree it was unfair to change the rules to make it more stringent you are wrong to think they weren't allowed to use it.

EI payments are deducted from income tax owing. Why should they be allowed to pay less income tax then somebody not paying EI when they want it run like a private insurance account?

Since EI funds are deducted out ot taxes collected going into general revenue they therefore become general revenue in that regard.

How can you argue with that logic?

In addition, how can you ignore the fact that Harper used the EI fund surplus to an even greater extent?

To be honest I haven't looked back since I left the game. To much fun using my SNES/Atari 2600/Sega Genesis emulators playing games I used to play when I was 10!

The deficit is going higher.

That's what should happen in a recession. And Canada is entering a recession.

It's not wrong for the government's finances to go into deficit in a recession, as we're now facing. The question is how far and how long?

It was unacceptable for GW Bush to add over a trillion dollars to the US National debt over the last eight years, considering that economic times were good.

It was unacceptable for Mulroney to run deficits in the 80's when the economy was humming.

And it was unacceptable for Trudeau to run 14 straight deficits throughout the 1970's and 80's as he plunged this country into economic mediocrity.

But if Harper, Mcguinty and the other premiers run reasonably sized deficits to get us through the next couple of years, I can live with it.

Just so long as they don't send us into another debt spiral when we emerge from the bad times.
