I don't think anyone has lost sight of that.
True the military's primary role is defense of our soil, but don't lose sight of the fact that there are more threats to soveriegnty than just a direct physical assault on our borders.
Since there are no armies massed at our border, the other part of the primary role of the military is ensuring there will be no hordes massed there in the future.

Turn that around.
The only folks here who have served , have Veteran or RCMP badge, are also renouncing the peasekeeping illusion. The only ones holding onto it are you people.
Have any of you peasekeeping advocates been in the military?

I come from a long line of Military.. father, grandfather, great grandfather, nephews..( one killed in Afghanistan ) all have served in the wars.. my father before he retired was sent on a peace keeping mission and he said he was as proud then as he ever was.. doing good was better than killing.. is the answer to every situation .. kill them,? annihilation? I was wondering if you ever served or lost someone by war? would be interesting to know..

Pardon my earlier post, I hadn't read this one before I had said it. Obviously you do know some soldiers.
Your father said he was proud of his peacekeeping role, but how about your grandfather, great-grandfather, they must have served in the World wars. Were your ancestors proud of the role they served? Was your nephew proud of what he was doing? Are your other serving nephews?

Canada has far more history with combat than peace keeping. We only became a peace keeping nation for the time our military was totally neglected by the government and starved of money and resources in the 80's and 90's. Our "traditional" role has never been peace keeping and anyone who says so clearly has never read a Canadian military history book and is a slap in the face of the hundreads of thousdands of soldiers that has lost their life in combat for Canada. Peace keeping is a joke and this survey is a joke, leave the military decisions up to the professionals in the military.

Who was your nephfew?

Don't even ask Sapper, Kenmore has been using this crutch for a LONG time now to further his adgenda without ever naming names. Even if he did, whose to know he is not just using one of our deceased comrades names. Sad, really.

I think it's the guy on the far right. I understand he was in the French Resistance.
