mtbr mtbr:
I wonder why Paul Martin had an original version of this transcript since last February?

Irrelevant.

Its obvious he didn't want to tred on a fresh grave nor fight a mudslinging war.

Honour and respect from a man who stood with the Liberals and from former Liberal PM of Canada.

A despicable bribe attempt from the current CPC PM of Canada.

Sorry for your luck.

Me thinks he was trying to keep something in his pocket for a leader on his last legs.

Dodge, Deny, Deflect, and Spin. The con D3S attack.

Oh, and a big ole plate of baked red herring from RR.

I said it all back on the original thread.
I have absolutely no problem with the CPC offering to pay Cadman for his last or future campaigns. With an election comming and a proven candidate like Cadman, it's a no brainer they wanted him back.

I also mentioned that all parties have insurance to protect their candidates while their out hugging babies or BBQ-ing on the campaign trail. That was a Million liability too. If they wanted him back and that was a "standard" thing, ot would be expected to offer it to him.

Where is the dodge, deny deflect? Those are answers.

Cadman had no problem speaking his mind and if he was furious about something, you allways heard about it. On a number of occasions, he was asked and had the opportunity with nothing to lose and he never mentioned it.

Now let's follow the money because whoever stands to gain is the most obvious suspect.

The obvious is the reporter/book writter. he must now sell his house in Surrey but Dion will probably give him a nice plum job.
The Liberals definately stand to gain because all the attempts to connect Harper to Mulroney have failed terribly.

So far you have no proof and a big flash. Good luck keeping up traction on this one.

Giving a man dying of cancer a million dollar life insurance policy is giving a man a million dollars and it was obviously on the condition he vote against Martin.

Sorry for your luck.

Just to muddy the waters.

$1:
-Former Canadian Alliance MP Jim Hart took the party to court and settled after claiming he'd been offered $62,000 to quit his B.C. seat in July 2000 to make way for new party leader Stockwell Day. "My resignation was contingent upon this negotiation," Hart wrote Day in a letter obtained by the Liberal party.

-In 2002, Ezra Levant settled privately for nomination expenses with the Canadian Alliance after dropping his candidacy in Calgary Southwest to permit leader Stephen Harper a clear run in a byelection.

-In 2005, a prospective Conservative candidate in Ottawa claimed he'd been offered $50,000 for expenses to make way for a star Tory candidate. Harper publicly denied there was a deal, but a subsequent court case vindicated Allan Riddell's claim.

-In May 2005, Conservative MP Gurmant Grewal claimed he was offered a Liberal sinecure abroad or a Senate seat for his wife in return for scratching his budget vote. Grewal secretly taped the negotiations with then prime minister Paul Martin's chief of staff and Liberal cabinet minister Ujjal Dosanjh. An ethics inquiry ended up rebuking Grewal.

-Conservative MP Belinda Stronach crossed the Commons floor on May 17, 2005, in return for a seat in Martin's Liberal cabinet. Her vote, along with Cadman's, helped the Liberal minority survive for another half year.

-Freshly elected Liberal MP David Emerson abandoned the Liberals two weeks after the Jan. 23, 2006, election in return for a seat in Harper's Conservative cabinet.

-Ottawa Mayor Larry O'Brien is currently facing two counts of influence peddling involving allegations he dangled cash and a federal appointment to induce a fellow candidate to quit the municipal race in the fall of 2006. Terry Kilrea did quit, but did not accept the alleged offer. Conservative officials, including cabinet minister John Baird, insist no federal appointment was ever discussed or offered.

Thats retarded, a million dollar policy is not a bribe. It's maybe $100 per month premium that any one of us could get.

For a man diagnosed and dying of cancer.

Try and get a million dollar policy under those circumstances.

Exactly...so why would anyone make the offer to pay.

Something here does not ring true.

My favourite thing about this is the Conservative defence. They are basically saying that Donna Cadman...their nominee in that riding...is lying. If she is lying, which I seriously doubt given that there is no reason or her to do so, then it raises the question of why the Conservatives would let her run.

What have you got? A book written by someone else, forewarded by martin, probably paid for by Liberals, based on a distraught confused wife.

I think it rings very true, all aspects of it.

As I posted, this stuff is not exactly uncommon in politics.

A man will tell his wife his private and true thoughts, even ones he is reluctant to admit in public. Its very possible he didn't want all the controversy and publicity in his last days as he would have been at the centre of a hailstorm of controversey on that vote day.

Imagine the media shitstorm if the allegations came out at the time of the vote?

I think Cadman wanted nothing to do with it and thats why he did what he did.

He told his wife the truth, publically denied it to avoid the massive controversey and drove his message home by siding with the Liberals against Harper that day.

It makes alot of sense when you cut through all the partisan BS.

Is that not what you basically do? All you ever post when it comes to politics is how atrocious the "cons" are. While you never say anything against your precious never-do-no-wrong grits. What exactly is your persuasion? Are you trying to accomplish something? Or maybe your glasses are so tinted you are blind to anything outside of them? It would seem your whole existence revolves around ridiculing the “cons” in order to promulgate some other political faction whose deeds cannot be considered any more exemplary. At least if you are going to criticise actions do so universally not just against the select few on your hit list in order to make others look more admirable. You would then appear to be more genuine and less of a hypocrite.

Maybe she has a deal with the libs to throw the next election  According to the author neither him or DC brought these allegations to the media.

Your corrupt party tried to bribe a dying man.

Get over it.
