This potential includes the possible construction of oil and natural gas export pipelines through Afghanistan, which was under serious consideration in the mid-1990s. The idea has since been undermined by Afghanistan's instability. Since 1996, most of Afghanistan has been controlled by the Taliban movement, which the United States does not recognize as the government of Afghanistan"

No its not...that pipeline has been proposed for decades...it is a NATURAL Gas pipeline. The gas is not in Afghanistan.

"The Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline (TAP or TAPI) is a proposed natural gas pipeline being developed by the Asian Development Bank. The pipeline will transport Caspian Sea natural gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan into Pakistan and then to India."

The US stands to make billions from a NATURAL GAS pipeline passing through Afghanistan Maybe Chretien and the US "invaded" the wrong country.

The states have tried to invade several countries over oil.. they say bush wants to attack Iran before he leaves office and hopes that the US will vote in another Republican government..to continue.. Chretien did not support invading Iraq and we know why.. I guess..
