Thanos Thanos:
Right. I personally phoned up those people in that café in Montreal and told them to toss a beer in Doosh's face.

Oh so you're admitting it then.

Well maybe something positive is coming from this thread after all. :P

Now I understand better how Leonard must feel when Sheldon goes into full-annoying mode. :|

Delete Picasso from your list. He was a woman-beating drunk and would probably get along famously with the likes of Doosh. Don't have John Lennon either, because he was kind of the same too. For the one that gets ridiculed the most for his silly love songs, Paul McCartney was the only one of the "peaceful" Beatles that didn't put his fists on a woman when he got liquored up.

Don't have heroes, kid. They all inevitably disappoint in the end. :|

Public_Domain Public_Domain:
Read up on Orwell a bit more perhaps.

Ever heard this one from George?

~ Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written directly or indirectly against totalitarianism and for Democratic Socialism as I understand it ~

But then there was this one -

~I worked out an anarchistic theory that all government is evil, that the punishment always does more harm than the crime and the people can be trusted to behave decently if you will only let them alone~

It might be a mistake to think we had some kind personal insight into Orwell's head. He vacillated from Democratic Socialism to Anarchism.

However what I defy you to find contrary evidence of is the idea he consistently opposed totalitarianism. This is why I feel no guilt in quoting Orwell. I share his opposition.

However I personally think Progressives have less right to say that. It's always been my feeling that whether they know it or not totalitarianism is what they are progressing towards.

BTW Charlie Chaplin's autobiography was the first such book I ever read.

I just read this bit of the quote again.

Holy smokes, it's like I always suspected. He was a closet conservative.

Come back tomorrow. We'll be learning about Anarchism as seen through the life and work of Marx (No, not Karl. Groucho.)

With what the Germans and the Russians had done to the world in the first half of the 20th century Orwell and others like him had a good reason not to trust out-of-control government. That being said, Orwell's opinion on totalitarian government has zero in common with the nadir of selfishness-based & hyper-individualistic anti-government thought Ayn Rand dreamt up and that got embraced by too many libertarians and conservatives. The oligarchs of the modern United States aren't nearly the monsters that the Nazis and Communists were but they're still one of the most obnoxious, greedy, and selfish aristocracies this world has ever seen.

And I guess the woman that did that has been charged with assault ?

Yes ?

No ?

Enough to say this guy is getting a lot of publicity basically for free.

I'm sure a super-studly alpha-male like Doosh can take having a beer thrown at him and not go running to the police the same way some wimpy beta-male SJW pussy would.

Agreed.

Also:

You, as usual, don't have a clue about things like losing houses and meagre wages.

But you may find out, one day.
