PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9:

It just sounds like a bunch of lazy union turds not wanting to do their jobs properly anymore, despite wanting the job in the first damn place.

Those US workers are also unionized. How you lay this on the union rather than Canada Post management and ultimately Harper is beyond me. Just more Reformacon dogma run amok.

A larger country with far fewer people, our post is always going to be less efficient than the US. Not so much in high density area tho, where they could keep door to door.

Why not cut back on delivery days instead? And follow suggestions of bringing in more revenue - postal banking has been proposed, a la Europe.

Because it's inefficient and unnecessary. No need to dance around the problem, make the change and solve it.

When you have such an obvious choice to modernize the service and save a ton of money, it's a no-brainer....for most.

DrCaleb DrCaleb:

I don't know, in order to make an argument where none exists?

My point was clear, perhaps you didn't understand so let me clarify for you.

You were insistent that Canada Post couldn't legally just place boxes down wherever they want.

You said:

$1:
Canada Post has no inherent right to build on city land without consulting the City first.

and
$1:
No, they don't, or there wouldn't be a court fight over it.

and
$1:
Canada Post has no more right to build on City land than does Hydro One to build a new high power line and transmission towers right through the city.

Both Canada Post AND the City of Hamilton disagree with you.

City of Hamilton Lawyer:
$1:
Hidalgo said the city acknowledges it doesn't have the right to choose the mailbox locations, but "is entitled to a supportive role."

Yes, I get that. Interesting update. But the City of Hamilton still feels Canada Post should have to follow it's procedures in order to install mailboxes. And that procedure costs money.

But what you wrote was:

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
Why would I gloss over sections that support my point?

I don't know why you'd do that. I guess we'll never know.

Too bad for Hamilton. It's newly minted procedures were meant to stop or slow down the process.

What's being revealed here is quite simple, Canada Post reached out to the City 8 months ago to ask for input they legally don't require. Hamilton ignored them.

6-7 months later, they enacted a new by-law to claim they want input....something they had and chose to ignore.

I didn't feel the need to include further points when mine was already proven.

It's like you're telling me "You could have further disapproved my comment, why didn't you"?"
