No they are not meant to do that and thus I as an individual must see to my own safety.

England is a country with a great navy and dedicated ground forces (I do not know much about their current air force). Yet they were unable to stop 2 guys from beheading a solider in the middle of their own country.

The murder rate in the UK per population is tiny fraction of what it is in the United States. It is a lot smaller that ours in Canada and our per capita murder rate is about a 10th of yours.

The British are far safer than you are.

Not at all. An coordinated, organised, modern equipped forces is what wins wars and prevents invasions, not someone sitting in their kitchen "Prepping" with a big ass gun.
If you look at a map, Russia does border Canada and we have intercepted their aircraft for years. In fact the very first women fighter pilot to intercept a Russian bomber was Canadian.

Maybe the reason the US is a world super power is because so many of us are willing to do things on our own instead of waiting for someone else to do it for us?

Nah. It's because you guys invented nuclear weapons first and didn't hesitate to employ death squads to teach the locals a lesson wherever your corporate interests deemed it important. Having the Atlantic and Pacific as buffer zones to keep you safe from the Germans and Japanese bombing the hell out of you didn't hurt either. I like you guys a lot and all but let's get past the dopey and juvenile mythologies already. You're just another country, albeit a massively more powerful and dangerous one, and your bosses are more than willing to cover themselves in blood and shit, just like any other aristocracy that's ever existed has always done, if it means that they get what they want when they want it.
