Delwin Delwin:
I disagree, I believe we are morally obligated as a civilized society, unless you are native, at some point your family came here looking for a better life and were not turned away, just like mine did about 150 years ago, so what makes you special ?
They came under an immigration program looking for people, not as refugees.
I don't think we should have any refugee program at all. I think immigration should be a controlled action with a vetting system.
Further more just because a policy was used in the past doesn't mean it must still be valid today. That's not logical.

We are an underpopulated country and risk a very real funding crises with the aging workforce so unless we experience a serious baby boom, we are going to need to bring in immigrants.
Or we could work on technological solutions to expand our labour forces ability to produce. Raise the product per capital rather than just raising the total number of people.
That link provides no source for their claim, do you have an official government release? Also wouldn't you call a refugee from a developed nation a false refugee? Can someone be a refugee from Norway?
Refugees from DCO countries have lost all access to healthcare including urgent medical visits except in specific infectious disease cases.
If you are a pregnant woman from one of the DCO countries and now in Canada awaiting refugee status, you will not be able to safely deliver your baby in a hospital.
You will not have access to prenatal screening and your child will not have any postnatal care including well baby visits and immunizations…. That is unless you pay for this.
A 75-year-old diabetic who is a refugee claimant does not get his insulin covered under the new laws. A 56-year-old with breast cancer will not get chemotherapy.
If a refugee claimant from DCO presents to hospital with an acute illness they will be expected to pay for care. Indeed, I would argue that a vast majority of my colleagues would never think of sending such a patient a bill.
I'm pretty sure we don't have too many refugees from Norway, however, Mexico, which is also on the list has been in the top 10 for legitimate refugee claims every single year for the last 15 years, which again points to the arbitrary nature of this list and puts to question the motives of the Conservative government.
