Companies should be spending money training Canadians. Just put a monetary value on that training, and make the trainee stay with the company for a certain period of time or they have to pay the money back. I'm sure all sorts of young or unemployed people would jump at a deal like that.

There was a time where Canadians were willing to come to Alberta to work but, some where along the line they all became a bunch of lazy sheep who would prefer to sit at home in Ontario and bitch about the "dirty tarsands" with their hand open looking for "dirty tarsands" money.

We have several residents of our neighbourhood who have gone out to the oil patch to work. I don't see your opinion being true around here.

Yeah I won't go earn hundreds of thousands of filthy polluting dollars. I'd rather feed the family Mr. Noodles and collect welfare!
Maybe on Fridays they get enviro-weenies and beans.

Who doesn't know anyone working in Alberta?
What a stupid comment.

Jealous - not at all. I've been to Phoenix and have no interest in going back. If I was going to be a snowbird, I can think of far better places than that.

On 70 grand a year you won't be snowbirding anywhere in your lifetime.

The operative word in my reply was IF.

Unlike you, if I really wanted to live elsewhere, I'd just move there permanently, instead of being a fairweather Canadian like yourself.

I guess what my buddy says is true - "the good thing about the cold is it keeps the assholes out!"

Too bad we have to have summer.
