bootlegga bootlegga:
I don't recall of too many drive-by shootings happening with bolt action rifles. I don't know of too many home invasions with bolt-action rifles either. They probably have been used on the odd occasion, but they are not the weapon of choice for criminals.
As such, I'm not too worried about a gangbanger with a bolt action rifle, but I am worried if they have semi-auto/full auto assault rifles. I would suspect most people feel the same way.
Gang bangers overwhelmingly prefer (semi) automatic handguns of .25 caliber and 9mm. After that they like revolvers and shotguns.
The last reported use of an actual full automatic weapon during the commision of a crime in the USA was on February 28, 1997.
From all sources the use of semi-automatic rifles (of all types, not just so-called 'assault rifles' or 'assault weapons') occurs in less than one-half of one-percent of all reported crimes - including crimes where the weapon is not discharged.
You are more likely to win a lottery jackpot in the USA than you are to be killed by someone with a rifle of any type.
In 2012 in the USA 348 people died from wounds inflicted from rifles. (the FBI stats aggregate ALL rifles, not just semi-automatics).
182 of them were suicides or otherwise ruled accidental.
That leaves 166 people dead from all rifle fire.
Meanwhile 656 people in the USA won a lottery jackpot in the same year.
Now, put your panties away and go buy a lottery ticket.
