Naw, I can just move to Victoria. Williams Lake actually has more per capita brown people if you include the natives:
Total Population 10,744 100.0 Aboriginal Population 1,435 13.4 Visible Minority Population 925 8.6
Certainly lots more than Esquimalt:
Total Population 1 6,840 100.0 Aboriginal Population 9 30 5.5 Visible Minority Population 1 ,070 6.4
I could just move there, then gripe about not turning it into Toronto west.
Vancouver doesn't want more immigrants = racist. Victoria doesn't want more immigrants = hypocrite racist.

@Westmanguy The water is too deep, currents too strong and distance is too far in a tectonically active area. If there were ever a bridge, it'd have to be near Nanaimo, but then again that's some really deep water there too. Here's a MoT report http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/Publications/re ... d_link.htmnote from the report: -length of a crossing could be up to 26 kilometres -water depths are up to 365 metres -deep, soft sediments of up to 450 metres on the ocean bed -potential marine slope instabilities along the eastern side of the Strait could result in future underwater landslides -extreme wave conditions (4 to 7 metre waves, with 6 metre tides and 2 knot current) -design wind speed of 115 kmh with gusts up to 180 kmh -passage of major ships through the area; and the need to protect a crossing structure against ship impact (a floating bridge could not withstand the impact of a tanker vessel).

Gunnair Gunnair: westmanguy westmanguy: Is it just me or does anyone else think it would be more feasible for a fixed link from Victoria to Washington state? There is a series of close-in-proximity islands going from Victoria northeast to Bellingham, WA. And that's a short jaunt up the I-5 to Vancouver.
If the bridge/tunnel started up towards Sidney, BC it would be even closer.
I wonder if that route has ever been studied. Ain't going to happen. It's a travesty just to watch them try and replace the Blue Bridge here in Victoria. +1 When they can't get over a creek, forget the rest.

Vancouver doesn't want more immigrants = racist. Victoria doesn't want more immigrants = hypocrite racist. Wow, I haven't touched a nerve this well for a while. You really seem to hate being tagged for being the racist you are, and the pathetic desperation of trying to peg racism to keeping the population of the south island as reasonable given our limited infrastructure makes it just that much more fun. So much for being a man of the people. You are certainly a man of the white people though.

But saying that Vancouver, which is bursting at the seams, saying that should have a reasonable population, that's being racist by your skewed logic. As if we have unlimited infrastructure and land. We're a bigger city, but per capita we've taken way more immigrants than you have, especially the brown ones you always like to bring up - they seem uppermost in your mind.
I know you're fighting hard to keep your cognitive dissonance from overwhelming you, but just give in. By the very logic that you use to call me a racist, from a city that has certainly taken its share and more of immigrants, brown and otherwise, you are that much more racist. Just face it - by calling me a racist for suggesting immigration be reduced unless we settle immigrants in areas that are underpopulated, you're calling yourself one as well. But you're being a hypocrite about it as well.

yet you only seem to dwell insistently(or ad infinitum ad nauseum) on those who have higher levels of melanin. Why not ship the poor whites elsewhere....or would that mean you'd have to move too? if anything there is a cognitive dissonace in what you espouse. It's almost like Animal Farm. You preach all should be equal, but some should be more equal than others.

But you could look it up - the person who brought up brown people and is obsessing about it is Gunnair. He just got caught in his own logic that being against massive immigration is racist, yet wants to keep his little slice of heaven just way it is. White.

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog: Why would you want to move to Esquimalt? Agreed. Anything in the west is a traffic nightmare. Andy is more of an Oak Bay type - well, one of their gardeners at least.

That's true. I have friends there. But it always just seemed a little too insular to me. Not quite real.
