We are talking 1 concussion here, not regular blowns to the head like boxers, hockey players and football players endure. If 1 concussion would make someone a mass murderer years after healing, we ALL would have been a mass murderer.

You should just stop right now, becasue you honestly don't have a clue about concusions or brain trauma. Do you have any idea the level of concusion one endures who survives an IED strike? You don't, but some very smart people who went to medical school do and what they say about IED strikes and the damage they CAN cause to the brain is alarming.

If he was not tested by a military medical team before being sent back on tour, guess who is to blame for this massacre? NOT this guy.
The people YOU are telling me know everything about this are to blame, because they should have NEVER sent him back.

IF it is the case with him, and I don't know how intensive his brain injury was, then I agree with you. The medical community dropped the ball and cost a bunch of innocents their lives.

I don't know about the American military but there USED to be an unwritten rule that you could REQUEST not to be deployed after your third tour overseas without career implications but I don't think it is an actual rule. I have done 6 overseas deployments and would volunteer for another but my wife has issues with that! Plus the fact that this Friday will be my last day in uniform ever.

No, couldn't read the story at work.

Even a non-combat vehicle roll-over can cause severe brain injury. I rolled an AVGP many years ago and was partially pinned between the ground and the hull. That might explain a few things! :o

Besides the severe concussion, I had a broken cheekbone and orbital bone, detached retina, ruptured eardrum, big cut along my cheek for 27 stitches and my ear was partially torn off needing a ton of stitches plus most of the muscles in my upper back and neck were strained or torn.

Just to show how things were back then, in less than 6 months I went on my basic parachute course!

BTW I also have never felt the urge to indiscriminately kill innocents.

The fact you went on a parachute course suggests a lasting brain injury!

This guy has to stand Military Court Marshal, and really with US-Afghan relations strained with the Quran Burning, The States has to drop the book on this guy, if he's convicted, he has to be either locked up forever or executed. If it does come out that the brain injury was partially to blame, then he needs to be placed in a psych hospital, and treated, but not released.

I really think the states need to come down hard and send a message to the Afghan government that the US forces are not going to tolerate this. Otherwise I'm seriously concerned that US and Allied forces will suffer reprisal attacks from the Taliban and quite possibly Afghan units themselves.

It's only gonna get more interesting.

On the late news tonight I heard that this soldier had suffered a severe head trauma while serving on one of his multiple tours in Iraq.

So, if true, it begs the question, WTF was a soldier who had suffered a severe head trauma doing in a combat situation in Afghanistan. 8O

A concussion is severe head trauma? I guess all hockey players can retire. And so can I, I had a concussion when I was 15. Disabled for life...

It was his forth tour. 3 in Iraq, 1 in Afghanistan. I'm thinking PTSD is more of a reason than a concussion.

I just posted what they said on the news and as we all know, the news never gets sensationalized by our favorite yellow journalists.

True, but it makes it just that much harder on everyone when someone goes rogue like that, really undermines why the troops are fighting in my mind.

Reprisal attacks would happen if it got out that a US soldier farted within 500 metres of a mosque. It would be spun as a gross insult to Islam and another example of the infidel's alterior motives.
