They could all get off for this and there is precedent for that. If that happens god help us all.

This really is the terrifying part. We have to let the system do it’s thing, it’s in the hands of the prosecutor now. This case will be won or lost by the jury.

If he’s convicted, will that slake the thirst for vengeance of the masses? If he’s acquitted, will there be riots? I think people will riot regardless.

I don't think they'll get away with transferring the case out of the metro Minneapolis area to get a more sympathetic jury in the suburbs, the way that happened in the Rodney King incident. If they do then it'll almost guarantee an acquittal, especially if the jury ends up as all-white or if it gets tried in a pro-cop pro-Trump red-county. The George HW Bush DOJ took it to federal court after the Simi Valley jury fucked up so badly to at least get the federal civil rights violations tried for the officers who beat up King. It's a guaran-goddamn-tee that Trump & Barr will not do the same thing if the county court system in Minnesota fucks up. If anything Trump would probably invite the four police to the White House and pin a Presidential Medal of Freedom on all of them.

All in all I'd say there's at least a 50/50 chance of an acquittal followed immediately by more riots and violence. And that's assuming there isn't another incident elsewhere of another George Floyd being killed by a police over-reaction that kills another person over something as equally stupid as a fake $20 bill, which ends up in the streets burning again. With Rodney King there was at least the sense that police everywhere smartened up a bit for a while. In these days though? With the way Trump alone has been behaving there's every chance that police behaviour could get even worse if the cop unions comfortably feel that the asshole has their back, no matter what they do.
