if you guys want to prove a point, yet not be blamed for starting a shooting war, you need to build catapults that can lob balloons full of liquid pig(or any other mammal that is handy) shit at nearby Russian positions. Some good heavy rubber tubing, a mobile frame and latex bags

If that's true unfortantely the West has to suck this up and accept it.

The west does have to accept the loss of Crimea, but not because of this dog and pony show they called a referendum. The only purpose of this vote (held under duress) was to give Russian actions at least the appearance of legitimacy.

Under duress? The people there want this by a huge majority. Not 93% maybe.

Uh, no we don't. Elections held under occupation by foreign soldiers are never recognised and are illegal. Also, the referendum questions were even more dubious than the question in the last Quebec sovereignty referendum. The ballot asks two questions and leaves no option for a “no” vote. Voters are simply asked to check one of two boxes: Do you support joining Crimea with the Russian Federation as a subject of Russian Federation? And: Do you support restoration of 1992 Crimean Constitution and Crimea’s status as a part of Ukraine? That Constitution declares that Crimea is an independent state. So in other words: yes or yes?

It's a sham election through and through.

When tens of thousands of Russian troops have already effectively annexed the area, when the pro-ruskie paramilitaries are prolific, and when the referendum only offers "union with Russia now" or "independence" as options (no ukrainian choice).

Free and fair? Hardly.

Yet even if it had been free or fair, do you think the outcome would have been different? It seems people want to deny that there is a substantive percentage of Ukrainians who are pro-Russian. That percentage is way over a majority in Crimea. Ukraine had a revolution to overthrow a democratically elected president. The West thinks that's all hunky dory, but if the people negatively affected by that push back, that's not playing by the rules. Yanukovich was elected by what observers at the time called an impressive display of democracy.

We may have our own, similar referendum in our country. We will be asked to walk the walk, too.
