Some outlets, such as The Boston Herald are sticking with the story that an arrest has been made.

Is there any possibility that the FBI might request major news agencies to not publish information about arrests in case they suspect it might tip off other members of whatever cell that conducted such attacks (assuming if there are other members)

CNN is sticking with the "dark skinned male" story, but CNN is now reporting the suspect is White. Of course, in predominately-Irish Boston, eggshell is considered a dark skin tone.

That would make sense wouldn't it?

The media should wait until such news about arrests is made OFFICIAL by the authorities.

Big Brother is watching you. A store surveillance camera taped someone placing a bag that they believe was the second bomb.

A store called 'Lord & Taylor' apparently caught the suspect on their surveillance cameras.

Let's hope so.

THIS is why surveillance cameras are so important and necessary.

But what about our personal freedoms! 8O

If that's the case tho, they already blew it. Even putting out info about a suspect wouldn't help in that case. Often cops are very tight lipped about their investigation for just such a reason - hope nobody screwed up.

Honestly, when the information about the dark skinned male was out, it would make sense to have any possible witnesses come forward and be on alert in the immediate aftermath of the attack. The details are vague enough that it probably wouldn't tip anyone possibly connected to the attacks off.

Not much help if the details are too vague - you'll get everybody and their grandmother. OTOH, if some of the details match the perps, they'll know the cops have something. And the perps would be real stupid to just sit back and think they got away with it. If it is Muslim terror, even homegrown, the smart ones would already be on a plane somewhere. Not that terrorists are always smart.

Just occurred to me - it might actually make sense for the cops to put out false descriptions of who they're searching for. So dark skinned male (very believable) is actually a white skinned person/people, to give a false sense of security to the suspects adn the people behind them.

Now the Boston Globe is reporting that the federal courthouse and the Brigham and Women's Hospital are being evacuated.

That courthouse is where they were supposedly taking the suspect it was thought they arrested. Wonder what the connection is here?

Could be anything, but planting a story that a suspect had been arrested would assemble the press into a concentrated area and make a perfect target.

Public_Domain Public_Domain:
I'm sorry but I do believe there's a difference between attacking structures, and attacking human beings.

Hardly. Planting a bomb in a structure risks the death of anyone who might for some reason still be in the blast radius, even after a warning, and it risks the lives of the people whose job it is to try to disarm a bomb before it goes off.

You're trying to draw a line where there shouldn't be one.

OK, its time for the media to STFU and cover other stories until they actually have someting true to report. There's nothing new to report here but this story has totally eclipsed all other news coverage with it's non-news coverage.

The current "BREAKING NEWS!!!!" is that there is no news. Seriously. "Breaking news to you this hour, we can confirm that nothing has happened. Earlier reports indicated that something has happened but we can now confirm to you that these are incorrect. We now go live to the scene of nothing happening for 15 minutes of in-depth analysis of the non-event"

And last night, I shit you not, the following:

(after 3 different stories interviewing witnesses, friends/family of victims, freinds/family of other witnesses) the following stories (no joke here):

1) "Stay tuned for yet another witness account from yet another person who was there that day, but this witness... is blind." (No I'm not joking).

2) An interview with Toronto joggers, for their 'unique' insight on the bombing: "its like losing a member of your family" said one jogger. Ummm no...losing a member of your family is like losing a member of your family. Total strangers in another country who have absolutely no contact and nothing in common with you is not "like losing a member of family". The fact some of them do the same kind of exercise as you (or watch others do the same exercise as you)does not mean you have anything unique to tell us from your "perspective". "If I ever manage to qualify for the marathon, I will go, I'm not afraid, we can't show fear" boasted another jogging idiot.

3) " UP NEXT: The heart-felt REUNION" of two COUSINS who, after the bombing, didn't see each other until THE VERY NEXT DAY (spoiler: they were in touch the whole time, just didn't 'see' each other).

EDIT: I am not trying to make light of tragedy, rather comment on TV news' coverage of it.
