Taxpayer shouldn't pay for it though. If Quebecers want French porn on their TV's they should pay for it themselves through a provincial government cultural office. They shouldn't get federal money for it. It's not the amount of the money involved, it's the basic principle of it.

There's a lot of stuff I don't like paying for as a taxpayer. Where's the cut off then?

Normally the argument, like a pacifist not wanting their tax money to go to the military, is trumped by the concept of collectively being responsible to fund a wide variety of things for the "greater good of society". But it takes one fucked up perspective to say that porn is a cultural or societal good and deserves public funding. And there's no enshrined right to watch free porn in any constitution out there. Anyone who wants porn should pay for it themselves. Buy it yourself, it doesn't cost that much. Wank yourselves silly to it. Drown in it for all I care. Just don't make me pay for it for you.

My dad, Peter North, pays for all the towels, lube, videotapes, and lighting backdrops himself BTW. He's never approached to government for any funding or asked them to put his collection of "My Greatest Pop-Shots" on public television. He's a real DIY libertarian swimming in a sea of putrid socialist fakes. 8)

Why does the Ceeb need to show porn anyway, isn't that what the Internet is for?

If you have a computer, you don't need a tv.

Privatize the CBC, then they can show whatever the hell they want and Canadian taxpayers will save 1 billion dollars a year.

Agree!

Privatize the CBC..... Over the next 30 years 30+ billion will be spent on the CBC...

Hospitals
Schools
Roads
Medical Research
Old Age Pension
F-35 program
Corrections
Police
Deficit

This money could be better used on things we really need. Let the CBC stand on it's own. If it makes it great, if not so be it. It will just show what a money pit the CBC is.

I don't give shit what time of day or night it's on. Taxpayers shouldn't be on the hook to pay for porn programming.

You like having your tax dollars being spent on porn programming?

So T&A is porn nowadays? Please...this is nothing more than Sun Media attacking the CBC.

I will never understand why people are so outraged with nudity but not with gratuitous violence.

Especially when we have shows that glorify violence, tragedy and mental illness.

Seeing a tit isn't going to send some kid into therapy for a week, but I don't think the CBC should be airing this type of stuff at all. Just doesn't work well with a State broadcaster.

What's this, someone's opinion posted as a news story? hmmmm

Scape Scape:
Would you like a sun source on this instead? Going to be hard as it is a story about media.

Nope, I could care less about Sun Media or CBC, my nose is just a bit out of joint because it appears that it's alright for a Mod to post an opinion piece, but if anybody else does it the Editor and Chief yanks it quicker than Yogi pulling his goalie.

Not a big deal but had to point that out. Maybe the rules have been changed. :)

Carry on. [B-o]
