The oil should be refined in Alberta, then any pipeline leak is less dangerous. And there's no need for the thinning agents to be sent to Alberta, they can use both pipes to send products out.
Any Albertans going to gripe about megarefineries that would instantly stabilize small towns and provide thousands of really good jobs? I don't think so.
Read the comments section in the Calgary Sun or Herald some day. There's so much bitching and lack of context from the lamebrains and barely literate going on in this province at any given time that you'd think we were living in a hellhole combining the worst features of Mogadishu, Love Canal, and Auschwitz.
Worst thing about living in a mass media culture? Hands down it has to be the endemic (and epidemic) absence of any rational perspective among the mob of trogs out there.
