Sure! You can count on me to bring the real guns and the live ammo! [B-o]

Good luck getting THAT over our extremely secure border. 8O

One time I was up to do a training and I declared my rifle and kit as I entered and depsite having the proper paperwork it took hours to clear the border. The next time I was up (to Victoria) I smiled at the nice lady at the checkpoint and drove on through with enough arms and ammo to overthow a Latin American country.

Surely, I can't be the only person to have ever done this.

I've been grilled at the border and had my car searched, and other times, the border guard let me in with only a driver's license. Go figure...

Border guards are a mixed lot - you get some who are overzealous, some who don't seem to care and some who just follow the rules.

To me it seems that unless you fit a certain profile (ie. young male trying to cross the border in the middle of the night or after a short day trip), they are generally pretty lax. But if you fit that profile, you can expect to get grilled and maybe even have your vehicle searched.

If I wanted to bring contraband back to Canada, I'd just make sure that my wife and kid(s) were in the car when I crossed the border after a two week trip to Disneyland.

We have a party every year to celebrate 1812 and we even invite a bunch of American friends. We do feed them, but we don't let them drink any of the good beer, that is, Canadian.

Uggh... you can't be serious? Unless you mean decent Canadian craft beers, otherwise the US craft beer scene has more than enough ammunition to win a beer war. [B-o]

The only beer I drink is Québec micro-brews. [B-o]

I know, there are a lot of good American micro-brews out there now. Every time I go down, I try to find stuff that I've never tried before.

Likewise. I don't think that micro-brew is either American or Canadian - I see it as local.

I tend to favor porters and stouts but I'm also amenable to other beers when I find them. The Vancouver Island Brewery's Scottish Cream Ale is among my very favorite beers. I'm guessing there's good brew to be had virtually anywhere in North America. [BB]

I go to a "depanneur" near here that sell only Québec micro-brews.
They are up to 742 different beers as of today.

Photo taken inside the store... beer, beer, everywhere. [drool]

I think that the war of 1812 was just a bunch of growing pains for two good nations. The United States had just beat the British, with the help of the French, who seem to be the laughing stock now but the Americans will never admit to that. Canada wasn't even a nation yet but it was a territory that didn't want to fall under American control.

I wonder how many American kids in school even acknowledge or even know that the US hasn't been the powerful nation that it is now. As far as I can figure the US is 1 and 1 on native soil and Canada is undefeated.

I agree that it should be a continental party. Remember the history that created both countries and celebrate the fact that we have grown closer not because of it but in spite of it.

The War of 1812 was really the final phase of the American War of Independence. They made it clear to Mother that she was to take them seriously as an independent nation.

Worry not GT. I'm sure the Yank(s) in question couldn't name any battles of that war or any of the major players. Leave them in their ignorance.

>implying knowing battles of a war fought 200 years ago is relevant to me calling someone a brown noser
>implying you're not grasping at straws
>implying I'm ignorant

You're funny.

What war has America ever lost on home soil?

What am I? Just a humble person from across the border. Pay no attention to my ignorance. 8)

Yeah but they just wanna make sure it's about the achievemnent and that it doesn't devolve into some anti-US display of vitriol and rhetoric.

I see you've met Thanos.

From the guy who's favourite FOX "historian", Ann Coulter once said that "Canada's lucky that we (the United States) don't roll over in our sleep and crush them". Phhtpppbbtp!
