I don't see how head scarves would interfere that much. On the other hand, I don't see why anyone should have to change the rules of the world's most popular game to suit a religion.

I feel bad for the players. It looks like they were used as pawns in this fiasco, and their dreams of playing at the Olympics are dead.

I'd be just as opposed to this if we were talking about Amish or Mormons playing the game.

The big difference here is that when non-Amish visit Lancaster County or when non-FLDS visit Bountiful they don't expect non-believing women to observe their rules and when these people go out of their communities - like the Amish do in Rumspringa - they don't object to fitting in with the communities they visit.
