Brenda Brenda: What I wonder about is why the 11 year old stabbed a 37 year old (who apparently could not get him under control). My daughter is 11, all her friends and classmates are 11, and there is no way in hell they would get the chance to stab me.
So besides the cops, who was that man and what had he done to the kid that drove him that far? My understanding is this kid lived in a group home and stabbed a worker. If your kid went crazy picked up a knife and stabbed you, there would be no question about her having a chance - you wouldn't react in time. And an 11 yr old boy might be a lot bigger than your daughter.

RUEZ RUEZ: Brenda Brenda: RUEZ RUEZ: There's no reason to believe he did anything. There's also no reason to believe he did nothing... Mentally healthy 11 year olds don't go around stabbing people for no reason. Especially not men who could be their dad, uncle or friend of their parents. The child was in a group home and the victim was an employee. Oh ok, I missed that part

Don't forget we are Dutch, genetically the tallest people... That said, they are not in a group home, I have only 2 to look after, not 22.

Smacle Smacle: Grow a dick. You aren't gonna get stabbed by an 11 year old child if you sparta kick him in the face. Better than giving him an electric shock and potentially causing his heart to stop especially after this whole mess about the safety of taser guns. It would be best to apply your advice to the officer (coward) who caused this PR nightmare. Sparta kicking? Really? Clearly you've been watching too many movies. And how is the officer (in this case) a coward? He is supposed to wait until this unstable kid plunges a knife into him? It's not like the cop grabbed the shotgun from the cruiser and went Rambo on the kid. Kid didn't get shot, cop didn't get stabbed. I call that win win. -J.

Smacle Smacle: Police need to understand that their job is dangerous but that doesn't give them the excuse to use excessive force against children. You put on a uniform and leave your family to deal with what ever the world throws at you, VOLUNTARILY. If that's what they are worried about then maybe they should try looking for a new job, maybe at a creamery. They are supposed to be professionals trained to handle situations 100x worse than this with due diligence. They can't even wrestle a panicked child to the ground... this speaks volumes for the RCMP. If you can do a better job, please, sign up and become a police officer. I'm sure everything will be just peachy for you -J.

This was a Prince George kid, they're tough. Why just a month ago the cops had to don full body armour to grab a little kid throwing a temper tantrum in the Aquatic Center.

That's interesting that adult man can't use his own hands for making influence on kid. But from the other side, the modern generation is very aggressive. In some cases Taser is one of the best decisions.

Or they sent one of the new cops. Not big with a reach twice that of an 11 yr old, one of the 'new qualifications'. Four foot six, types 60 wpm and is a member of an ethnic minority....

Once a person is in a position to kill you, it doesn't matter how old they are I don't expect a cop to put his life on the line when he doesn't have to. If this had been an adult who was coming at the cop with a knife, I have no problem with the cop shooting him. So using a taser 'cause this was a kid seems about appropriate. Why should a cop risk being stabbed just because this was a young kid?

RUEZ RUEZ: The public needs to understand they aren't here as cannon fodder. I hardly think expecting a cop to handle an 11 year old is comparable to calling him cannon fodder. It's just asking him to be a competent member of society. CDN_PATRIOT CDN_PATRIOT: Sparta kicking? Really? Clearly you've been watching too many movies. If you can do a better job, please, sign up and become a police officer. I'm sure everything will be just peachy for you Sparta kick, clearly, is a joke. Sorry that it surpassed you. Tasers have been deadly on several occasions on people much larger than this kid. "reasonable force" would take into consideration the size and competency of the suspect and your own training and situational advantage. This was not reasonable force. I'd take it to court if that was my kid. Why do you always call people out like that, "why don't you go do it then?" It's not a good argument against the fact that this cop appears to be incompetent. Try again.

Why do you always call people out like that, "why don't you go do it then?" It's not a good argument against the fact that this cop appears to be incompetent. Try again. 1. The point is, the kid is quite alive, and the officer wasn't harmed. If you 'took it to court' as you say, you'd probably lose. The two questions asked of you would be 'Where was the kid's parents?' and 'Why did this kid have/where did he get a knife?'. Then the evidence would be presented, and you'd be screwed. 2. What's the matter? Getting called out bothers you somewhat? Until trolls like you walk the walk instead of just talking the talk, then perhaps it might end. And I also believe this cop did his job to a T. -J.

And you know this because you were there? No RUEZ, it is because he's not some cowardly cop, but a Man and a Man knows what reasonable force is.
