I laughed when I saw the demonstrators on the streets in Germany, and was thinking what their solution was to compensate for the 25% loss of energy.

Oh wait, they don't have one...

Banning outright seems over the top. What is required is a national energy strategy that will require billions and decades. A full modernization of the nuclear program with all new reactors would be part and parcel of that program. It's not the be all end all but to abandon nuclear outright doesn't seem feasible.

As long as Eastern Europe still uses brown coal, I am not impressed with the complaints of these German protesters. Do they have ANY idea what THAT does to anyones health??

Last time I visited the Czech Republic (3.5, 4 years ago) they did.
