If anyone wants to read Mr. Moore's rather rambling words on the issue:

If the chair of the NRA came to Canada and did for Harper what Moore is doing for the NDP would you be all for that as well?

I wouldn't agree with him. But we have free speech in this country, so if he's doing nothing illegal then I couldn't really say much. Different than if a government official was doing it.

Actually I would probably like it if it was shown that Harper was in bed with the NRA - I doubt if most Canadians have much use for them.

I don't see why the NRA would care about Harper. The NRA's mission statement is to protect the Second Amendment of the US Constitution. That would seem to suggest they would only lobby inside the USA.

Nope, they do seem to fund some gun groups here too, or so I've read.

That is why I do not support this sort of action. As the NRA should be shown the door so too should Mr Moore.

It certainly does smack of hypocrisy for a nation that vilifies any involvement of outside influences on their political strata.

Quite frankly it is still further proof that the worst nation on earth for meddling in the affairs of others is the US.

You believe that you believe in the tooth fairy too. The NRA is one of the most powerful lobbies in the US and they do lobby here in Canada and many other nations. What's good for the gun business is good for the NRA.

Glad you found that, Scape. I knew there was something wrong with what Dan posted.

Bear in mind that footage is from a fictional Nic Cage film, Lord of War.

Some truth to it though.

I agree. And generally when Bart and many other Americans say things about Canada and Canadian Policies, they say it with Canada's best interest in mind.

Hardly. They say it based on what an American thinks is in Canada's best interest.

What ever your opinion is of their opinions, they've rarely shown that they don't have Canada's best interests in mind when they voice their opinions of what our policies should be.

I'll say it again, they have our best interests in mind based on their best interests as Americans. Don't be naive enough to thinks its always the same and it shouldn't be lost on you when they criticize our country's policies based on their own US ideologies. If you think that's helpful, be happy with it. Not everyone is terribly interested to hear how our policies and ideologies suck compared to those of the US.

I'm not sure about that. I think we certainly share a lot of interests, but when we conflict, the US cares exactly fuck-all about Canada. Iraq war? Softwood lumber?

I'm talking about our american members, not the country in general.

Canada isn't like the United States -- it's still was a first world country, where corporations are were supposed to exist to benefit people, not the other way around.

Wasn't aware the NRA lobbied in Canada 8O It's kind of (actually really) scary.

I think JJ had a good perspective of Michael Moore a few years ago though.

Its total B.S for Vale to take a huge loan from the Feds six weeks before announcing that they are shutting down operations.

IF this is true then I want my money back, it's damn close to theft if they made promises then just ran off with the money and ignored their promises.

Moore is still a boob!

Corporations have been doing this BS for years under Liberal and Conservative governments. they'd get loans and deferred taxes on the basis they needed them to remain competitive and the promise to employ more people. Meanwhile the real job creators, small and medium business owners, were getting royally fucked over with high taxes.

Yeah, but he's a shit-disturber and shit-disturbers are good for democracy. It's not like anyone takes him seriously anyway. He's like Bill Maher or Dennis Miller or Bill O'Reilly. They make some amusing points, but nobody cares about their politics any more than any other celebrity's. When we're talking about politics and economics, I don't take Michael Moore's opinion any more seriously than I'd take Mandy Moore's. It's also a close call on which Moore has the nicer tits.
