One of my favourite qoutes "Politicians are like diapers; they ought to be changed frequently and for the same reason." Can't remember who said it, but it's true.

I think it might be overly cynical to say they're all the same and only in it for the power or the money, but I do think the system tends to corrupt them. Politics is all about compromise and eventually I think they start being too comprimising. Very likely also a lot of ends justifying means kind of thinking going on. "If I go along with this wrong policy, maybe I can get that other important thing done..."

Cynical! I don't think so at all. There are probably as many 'good politicians' as there are 'noted cancer researchers' who have died from cancer!
