andyt andyt: Just make the rules apply to everybody - ceremonial or not. If the rule is no knives, then don't allow any knives, and if the sheepfuckers object, well they can go home to their country too. But if they want to fly there, good luck with that ceremonial dagger in your socks.
The Sikhs have available to them to wear kirpans that are 2" long, so the blade is what, 1"? Nobody is going to object to that. Or they can wear a little dinky one around their necks. These guys in Quebec are just doing the usual shit disturbing 'cause they want to be spatial. How prgressive of you, in your typical fucktarded way.

Let's be culturally thensitive. Let's allow women in burkas to vote, fly on air planes, have their picture taken for drivers licences with burkas on, etc, because, it's not like it's some huge threat or anything - most of the time it will work out fine. Let's allow swords in the legislatures, after all, that's why the aisle is two sword lengths apart, and why we still have a ceremonial mace that wasn't so ceremonial at one time. Let's just hang on to any and all old timey customs, even if they cause some problems, because we want to be progressive, and progressive means never making changes to our behavior.

Gunnair Gunnair: PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9: So there was a specific and legitimate reason for you to be dressed in full kit then? It was ceremonial n'est ce pas? Yeah, like there's a specific and legitimate reason to be dressed in Sikh religious clothing and carry a Kirpan. Nope. From a religious perspective, they are encouraged to carry a symbolic version of the kirpan when living and travelling in foreign cultures. The exception being when they are at, going to, or returning from temple/ceremonies. A pendant on a chain or even a nice polished wood mock-up is quite acceptable. Then, if any legislature says they aren't allowed, there'd be a case for claiming discrimination. Now, if one of the legislatures invited some Sikhs to honour their contributions to Canada and/or celebrate their Sikh-ness, then there should be no issue with them wearing their kirpans within... for that particular event!

I suspect you'll find any excuse to support it. Fair enough.
