The only song I remember getting censored when I was young was Jethro Tull's "Locomotive Breath".
And the all-time winner Has got him by the ****s.
Not in Vancouver. Love that song.

I'm going back to 1971... and only during radio play.
There was a "BEEP" on that word... in reality, everybody knew what the word was and the beep only made it worse.

There has always been some form of self-censorship by the radion stations. But is this the first time censoring a song is being enforced by a watchdog group?

Bring on the nanny state.
Yeah I'll be writing a letter on this one--to the CBSC and to my MP. The thing that bothers me, apart from the rank censorship, is that it smears Mark Knoplfer, who is a fine songwriter and who has wroked tirelessly for charity his whole career.
Rumour has it that Knopfler wrote this song after hearing some delivery guys talking about a Motley Crue video.

Anybody who knows the song and has seen the video know that the lyrics relate the musings of delivery guys moaning about the success of rock stars as they go about their mundane work lives delivering microwaves.
All the CBSC have done is draw attention to their own, very silly policies. Looks good on them.
I nearly wore this CD out when I was in the RAF. Brothers in Arms, The Mans too Strong etc....great tracks.

As I understand it Mark Knopfler came up with the lyrics after speaking with a delivery person who was commenting about music today (today being 1984 or so) because a music video was playing on a T.V. nearby. That's the reason for all the appliance references and it was the delivery person who made the faggot comments. Mark Knopfler was trying to show the intolerance of some people to change.

Incidentally, if you're Scottish, you should listen to The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards CD Prarllel Lines. It's got a great collabeoration of Mark Kopfler with the pipers. Also available in casette and 8-track!
