BartSimpson BartSimpson: Seems he had no problem with that concept from January 20, 2001 until January 20, 2009. That would be interesting if it were true. But it isn't so it isn't.

redhatmamma redhatmamma: Whether you like her or not, she is being blamed unjustly, neither she nor the tea party had any part of it. The rush to judgement has been disgusting, particularly as the left has it's own share of rhetoric. She is owed an apology from a lot of people, especially the New York Times. Oh no, there's absolutely no TeaBircher/Palinite violence to be seen at all here. There's a Freedom Tree called America, dammit, and it has to be watered with the blood of you. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Where exactly did I call for any violence?

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Zipperfish Zipperfish: After the Oklahoma City massacre in 1995, Bill Clinton said, "There is nothing patriotic about hating your government or pretending you can hate your government but love your country." Seems he had no problem with that concept from January 20, 2001 until January 20, 2009. Please submit some Clinton quotes where he recommended 2nd Amendment solutions to the Bush regime, or used the hateful type of rhetoric that's so common from the right TV and radio mediums?

The only thing I have to stay to Sarah Palin can be summed up in one initialism, "STFU". Seriously, this woman makes herself look stupider every time she opens her mouth. Did she ever consider hiring a (competent) speech writer?

Did she ever consider hiring a (competent) speech writer? Just an internal routing problem. The words that come out of her ass are sweet, dulcet tones. But the shit that comes out of her mouth...

Bill Clinton on the Patriot Act: $1: The road to tyranny, we must never forget, begins with the destruction of the truth. So he called Bush a nacent tyrant and in the USA that implies the following from another Democrat: $1: The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Here's another example of Clinton hating the government: $1: Every time Bush talks about trust it makes chills run up and down my spine. The way he has trampled on the truth is a travesty of the American political system. Oh, and there's this gem which necessarily includes the government: $1: A lot of wonderful people love their country and hate the military.

He's calling Bush a liar, and pointing out that it can be the road to tyranny. Sounds perfectly legit to me. And he's nowhere recommending people take up arms.
Bush isn't the government. Bush lying would make a travesty of the government - ie political system.
The last quote is stupid - if the context supports it's apparent meaning.
But you seem to be stretching here.

Not at all. In the USA calling someone a 'tyrant' is a highly charged word for those who grasp the historic implications of such a title.
And Clinton said that people can love the country and hate the military and by extension they also hate the government that sponsors that military. Our military is not independent of our government, you see.
So when it suits him he hates the government and uses language that can incite violence.

So when it suits him he hates the government and uses language that can incite violence. As I said, his military comment was stupid. Depending on context of course. Not just because it's part of govt, but because it's a legitimate institution in it's own right. You can hate what they, ie disagree with the military. 'course when you do, the right will call you unpatriotic. He didn't call anybody a tyrant, he said lying is a way to tyranny. That's different than the right, which calls the govt tyranical all the time.

That would be true if Bill Clinton called George Bush a tyrant, but he didn't so it isn't. "The road to tyranny, we must never forget, begins with the destruction of the truth" seems a wise observation, as opposed to say, Tea Party candidates screaming "Scumbag" at their opponents.

kenmore kenmore: If Sarah Palin had a brain she would be more dangerous than she is. She should see a surgeon and have her mouth wired shut! Disagree. Through working in a machine shop for a year, I've met my fair share of dumb people who are dangerous. Smart people know better.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: The left has been working itself up into a lather with language that, if said in person, would absolutely result in a throw-down. Thanos, for instance, has the anonymity of the net in which to have his little frenzy of hate, but were he to utter these same comments in some places he'd be eating his meals from a straw for the forseeable future. You manage to consistently demonstrate that right-wingers are horribly violent people. It's all of the right-wing pundits and their followers calling for assassinations, invasions, and hospitalising people who dare to hold a mirror up to these nutbars. Sure, there's this "kill Palin" thing apparently (I wouldn't know, you're the first person I"ve heard it from, and I have little reason to believe anything you say), but that's a drop in a bucket compared to the last ten years of violent rhetoric from all sorts of people calling themselves "conservatives". $1: I had one person utter a quality comment to me:
"I bet you're all sad that the killer got caught, aren't you?" But if the kid had just beat up the congresswoman so badly she was hospitalised for the rest of her life, you wouldn't have any problem, right? $1: I invited the person to repeat the comment to me outside at 5:01pm yesterday. He didn't show up. How sad. Wow. Sometimes I think you're really just a 13-year old with a computer in his mom's basement. That guy is probably laughing with his friends about what a childish proposal you made to him. $1: In sum, you're right kids: Words do have an effect. Too bad it always takes someone getting killed for you to realise these things. $1: Me, for once I'll agree with this President and support him when he says it's time to stop this. Oh, for sure. But you'll be right back on your bandwagon of violence next week. Actually, nevermind. You didn't get off it.
