I'm not crazy about race based preferential treatment at anytime, this article speaks to the issue very well.

$1:
British Columbia has a rich history of "negotiation" with First Nations leaders, from taxes to fishing to land claims to special status in public schools. This time, aboriginal leaders want to legally hunt bald eagles. According to Kelly and company, centuries of tradition (and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms) trump the B.C. Wildlife Act, which outlaws eagle hunting.

Many First Nations use eagle feet and tail feathers for costumes and regalia. Despite the longtime hunting ban, eagle poachers make big money in a thriving black market fuelled by aboriginals. One dead eagle may fetch several thousand dollars depending on the condition of the carcass.

So what does the B.C. government think of this latest aboriginal demand? What will the Campbell Liberals say to Chief Kelly and his crew?

Don't know.
