BartSimpson BartSimpson:
The thing is that a kid's hockey team is not a social engineering tool. It's a bloody hockey team. No doubt she played like a girl (no offense intended) and was having a hard time keeping up with the hard and rough play of the boys (it is hockey, after all).

Probably best she got off the team before someone took out some of her teeth.

Generally speaking, 12 year-old girls are bigger than 12 year-old boys. In my experience, girls playing on boys' teams at this age level are often the best players on the team. They are almost always defensemen and are almost always the most physical players on the team.

[total topic hijack] I have no idea what it is these days, but I'm noticing younger and younger girls (10-12) starting to look like 16-20 year old girls.

I just don't recall girls of that age looking so...advanced...thirty years ago when I was of that age. [/total topic hijack]

This is why I always look for tattoos before checking out the girls at the local pool. It's not fool-proof, but I feel a little less like a dirty old perv because I'm atleast trying...

As far as the actual issue, I do kinda doubt that this was about her being a girl. If you read the article it says that she and the boy in question had been playing together for a couple years. Obviously the father would have said something before now if that was the only issue. The article also says that she wasn't meant to see the agenda, so calling the guy an asshole or whatever for making her feel bad is kind of innacurate and unfair. That wasn't his intention.

It is entirely possible, and even probable, that this guy is trying to live his NHL dreams through his son, and taking things a little bit too seriously for this age and level of hockey but that sort of behaviour really is more of the "dog bites man" variety of news and I'm a little surprised that we've manged to get to atleast 3 pages on it...

Looking out for Lisa?

1. Lisa is not interested in hockey.

2. Lisa outshot Jeff Holquin of the US 2008 Olympic trap shooting team at a fundraiser in Orange County in August 2007 and does not need me to look out for her.

3. Three hours after her total hysterectomy she was up walking around at the hospital and off of pain medications the next day. That was April 2009.

4. In December 2009 she ran her first marathon. That's after the hysterectomy, breast surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments.

Suffice it to say, my wife is tougher than I am and she's got it in her to lay waste to a hockey team if she so determines to do so.

No intention of offending your wife here Bart. It just seemed you were being a bit "Big Brother"ish with this hockey playing girl.
