News stations are supposed to report the news, not have a pre-determined political agenda. Very sad. I'd say the same thing if someone was starting a left-of-centre news station.

I guess you don't get CBC on your TV?

I do, but I don't normally watch TV at all so I couldn't form an opinion as to CBC News being a left-wing station. I get my news from online sources like CKA.

They hired Levant?

With his track record, this channel will be off the air in a couple of years!

Yeah what a track record huh ? Exposed the oil sands for what they are the best alternative environmentally & socially until Star Trek dilitium crystals are invented.

Stood up to the Canadian Government thought police and exposed them for what they were.

Sounds pretty Liberal to me. To bad he votes Conservative huh ?

Horrible track record.

I get it though he's too loud, if only he would shut up it would be ok.

How's the Western Standard doing? That's what I mean about his track record.

I find it ironic that the same ppl bitching about SunTV being too right wing before the 1st broadcast even goes out, seem to have no issue with their tax dollars being used to support a decidedly left leaning CBC.

SO to sum up, A private, possibly right leaning TV news organization is bad.
A public, decidedly left leaning news organization funded by taxpayer dollars is good.

Would be funny as hell if the partisan hypocracy wasn't so fucking sickening.

I don't think anyone here supports the CBC simply because it is left leaning. I like the CBC, am not happy with it when it leans left, but have seen it edge right. I feel it is more centrist than say, CNN.

I just don't see what's so threatening about a market place of ideas. Down here you didn't hear anyone on the right get all in a dither because Al Franken launched his avowedly liberal "Air America". We all said welcome to the party and sat back and watched as the left burned through about $650 million dollars before going bankrupt.

If SUN fails then it fails.

If it succeeds then, obviously, a number of Canadians will have been wanting such a service. And why should they be deprived of it so long as they pay for it themselves?

Should be interesting to see how well they do. I hope they do well.

Right of center privately ownded media in Canada? oh yeah it will do well.

Like the National Post? Right-wing, privately owned. It loses tons of money.

Dittoheads don't read no stinkin newspapers.

I haven't read the Post in years, but going by the Vancouver Sun, Postmedia seems to be moderating a bit compared to when they were CanWest. They seem to be having a bit more balance.

I agree PA9. This is privately funded yet we have wingnuts like Madge Atwood decrying it as 'Fox North' before it's even gone on the air.

I barely watch any TV news anymore as it's all crap so I doubt I'll watch this.
