average life expectancy might have been 19 years or 30 years, so its not surprising that none of them were fat. But, i'll bet fat started to happen anytime a woman was well cared for, or a man was older, crippled, not able to perform physical work.
Doesn't royalty have a long standing tradition of some of them being fat, so much so that fat was often a symbol of nobility?
Fat women in some cultures are viewed as healthier women for child bearing, I dont know the rationale behind that one, maybe someone else knows?
