Oh don't worry Curt. Anyone who condemns and criticizes Israel for it blatant violations of international and humanitarian law, agression and brutality towards civilians and stealing of land is instantly an anti semite or jew hater.

Thankfully internationally and even within Israel the sane people are starting to realise this and starting to speak out against this.

Israeli govt talks about peace while stealing more land.

I'm no fan of the Palestenians ( Infact majority I have met I don't like them at all ) but that does not stop me from calling a spade a spade.

And before anybody starts jumping about me being pro hamas, I detest what they have done in the past. But the fact remains the people choose them and are democraticaly elected. Is that what the west keeps drumming about "exporting democracy" How can you say anything without even giving them a shot at it.

IRA and Shinn fein anyone ?

DD, the Jews have been a focal point of Muslim hatred since they were made to ride donkeys instead of horses and had to wear special signs denoting they were Jews as well as wear yellow turbans etc by Abd al-Az in the 8th century.

Oh you poor thing. You do like to make stuff up.

Nobody has accused you of anything, but you do have quite the history for making stuff up, as a quick glance of your rep screen will show.

Hisrotically that might be true but nothing less than what Christians did to them and also not to forget the jews have also lived well and prospered under the muslims The chritians heald far more contempt have been far more outward and public in their anti semetism and only till the in the last century that things have started to resolve.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christiani ... tisemitism

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Christians

But what we are talking about is the current conflict starting from the last century. If you wish to look at history rationally and without any bias and just the facts . The palestenian arabs have basically been made to pay for a crime they did not commit : the holocaust.

Also about the terroist element of Hamas. Two former Israeli leaders have been members of terrorist organisation. Yitzhak Shamir and Menachem Begin who was the leader of the Irgun which did carry out attacks against the british.

Like the The King David hotel bombings of 1948 by the Irgun which killed 91 mostly if not all British, can't remember exactly. And these groups were classified as terrorist organisations by the british.

So its really very hypocrital to keep denying the legitamcy of the Hamas as the democraticaly elected govt by its association to the past, all the while you still have live examples like these and the presviosult mentioned IRA and Shinn fein.

So bad that as a minority government he has far outlasted any other. 8)

That's the litmus test of good government? How long it stands? My question was legitimate. What has Harper done that would cause anyone in their right mind to declare that he's "done an awesome job"?

Nowhere do I state that they have done an "awesome" job, in fact I am disappointed in a few of the things they have done. But the mere act of survival for as long as they have must mean they are not as bad or evil as the left would have us believe.

Or it just means the left hasn't got anyone as "good" as Harper, which isn't saying much really :(

Well that's what happens when you toss global warming out the window and choose to support a nation engaging in terrible practices based on your religious views.

This isn't about Canada's principles it's about Harper's. Canadian history goes far far beyond the Harper years.

ASL said he was doing an "awesome job". I don't know who you mean by "the left". Harper IS the left. He's pissed away more dollars and dug us deeper into debt than any government in history. What I understand least about his tenure is why traditional conservatives support him. The only answer I can surmise is that Conservatives in Canada will back anyone who wears their colours. I call that hackery.

Speaking only for myself, I support Prime Minister Harper and the Conservatives for two major reasons:

1) The Liberals are not a friend to Alberta. In fact, most of the time, they've been an active enemy to Alberta.

2) I consider the Liberal Party almost to be a criminal organization. Despite their blather, their first interest once in power is their own enrichment. They're no better on an ethical level than the Mexican PRI still is.

These two reasons alone are enough to disqualify the Liberals as a political party that I could ever vote for. Voting for them, knowing in full what kind of a group they are, would be creepier than taking a bath in a tub full of cobwebs.

That's a fair response. On point #1, I can understand why Albertans support the CPC, just as I understand why Quebecers support the Bloc. But what's good for Alberta (or Quebec) isn't necessarily good for the whole of Canada. On point #2, I disagree that the Liberals are any worse than the Conservatives on an ethics scale. Politicians are what they are, regardless of their party logo. When they aren't kissing babies, they're stealing their lollipops.
