Bodah Bodah:
Napalm the whole fucken garden man, that'll get rid of them varmits.

I've used gasoline to clear out nests of gophers....the fumes carry well through the tunnels.. but it's too expensive and too bothersome to chase flaming rats and brain them with a spade. Drowning them worked well. A couple of loads of water from the slough and the dogs took care of those who made it up.

Proculation Proculation:
It's not gauge for a shotgun ?

gauge refers to the weight of a lead ball that will fit down the barrel of a shotgun. For example a 10 gauge shotgun will allow a ball weighing 1/10 of a pound. Calibre is the diameter of barrel and projectile, rather than weight of the shot. The .410 unlike other shotguns is rated in calibre and not gauge.

Aaah you're right... We say, 10, 12 gauge but .410 is the diameter thus the caliber. Like you say, it's not referred as others shotguns in gauge.

According to Wikipedia, a .410 is 67½ so maybe that's the reason :P

I used to shoot 10, 12, 16, 20 gauge and 410, a .410 is a good garden gun.

Back in England I had a .22 bolt action shotgun, .22 long rifle cartridge filled with dust shot. Good close range rat killer. No good for coons.

I have a .410 and a .22 with long cartridges but I can't used that in my garden in Montreal.

I think I will try to build a kind of trap to get the goundhog.

What I've read is that if we capture "by accident" a groundhog, we have 24 hours to contact the authorities which are the "wildlife agents" (agent de protection de la faune in english).

But... come on... if I trap my beast, it will have "an accident" in the river next my house.

There's nothing like teaching animal cruelty at a young age.

K, so it wasn't just me thinking it..

I mean, there are more efficient ways..

Yes, there's no need to terrorize or torture animals just for a few laughs.

We used to go wild fowling with 4 bores (Southport marshes), they were anchored to the front of a punt on a swivel mount. 8)

How can you hit a clay target with a 4oz slug ? You have to be a hell of a shooter.
