More directly related to the Urban heat island effect, I think, in the case of one city. As the city gets larger and it's industries expand more, especially those in all the neighbouring cities of Toronto, the entire area is going to experience that.

It's something they are fighting in Chicago through greenspaces on roofs and such and something I wish would be a little bit more prevelant in Canadian cities, especially since there's a ton of areas which are just layered with slabs of concrete pointlessly in Toronto and the GTA. The Urban Heat Island effect is something that both sides of the AGW coin can agree upon (and is in fact a main argument of the questioners).

35º ish sounds like a ice box right now as we are regularly getting temps in the high 40 here and 50 plus is not uncommon inland in hell's own boot camp.

And its bullshit that you get use to it. I lived here all my life and worked for a decade in the desert. Yesterday I had to work on my car to do some emergency repairs and almost died from the heat ! Was hot like fuck ! 47 ish I think and having the sun 2 cms above your head also doesn't help

humidex hit 51 C today for us, but it didn't seem so bad because of the strong breeze and cloud. I even managed to survive wearing dockers, a long sleeved dress shirt and a tie when we walked to lunch this afternoon.
