Scrap dual citizenship

Dual citizenship is not something the "new" country decides you can have. It's the homecountry that decided that.
If you scrap dual citizenship, you are telling Canadians emigrants they can not be Canadian anymore when they take on another citizenship, not the immigrants to Canada to get rid of theirs.

Sorry wrong. You can make immigrants renounce their home country's citizenship when they become Canadians. In fact we used to do that. Of course it's up to that home country to accept the renunciation. I'm not really for it, I would love to have multiple citizenships, but my loyalty would remain with Canada and I would expect the same from people who immigrate here.

Personal experience with friends who took up Canadian citizenship in the 70's and were then deemed non-citizens of their home countries. At some point after that we started allowing dual citizenship - that's just not always been the case. The exception was always Britain and possibly all Commonwealth countries.

Maybe now, but now Canada does allow it, you don't have to renounce other ones. At one time you did, Canada made you renounce your previous citizenship, except as I say British or possibly all Commonwealth countries.

What don't you understand?
I WILL HAVE TO RENOUNCE MY DUTCH CITIZENSHIP WHEN I BECOME CANADIAN, BECAUSE THE NETHERLANDS DOES NOT ALLOW DUAL-CITIZENSHIP FOR IT'S CITIZENS. It means that Moroccan immigrants to the Netherlands will always be dual, because Morocco does not allow it's citizens to renounce their Moroccan citizenship. The Turks can choose, because Turkey allows you to choose.

While you are crying about "immies" you had better address while above all countries in the world Canadians expect and demand that all Canadian immigrants to another country continue to acknowledge their Canadianess and Canadian heritage. This is especially true of those going to Hollywood. As a nation we are greatly disappointed whenever our cherished famous people decides to get US citizenship and are offended when they decide to adopt the nation they have immigrated too as their own.

We expect everybody else to do what we vilify when it happens to us.

I only have to say this: As a Canadian, if you move to another country, try to get the other country to change their laws to sue you. I am going to go out on a lim here and say, the other country will tell you, "if you don't like it here the way it is, GO BACK TO CANADA". This is what we should do when we are asked to change our laws. I have traveled a little bit and I know that most every country in the world (there are exceptions) are not as GREAT as Canada and alot of our immagrants (sorry spelling) come from some shitty place's in the world. They don't want to go back, they came here because their country's suck.
If you don't like Canada the way it is, go back or somewhere else and try to change the laws to suit your old shit hole country..........
