Here's a better proposal. The natives, given the swathes of land they control, should be given the opportunity to control the immigration in them.

Look at it this way, Europeans set the immigration policy for 300 years and allowed only other Europeans in. Perhaps the natives should now demand they be able to say who comes to their lands.

They could help groups immigrate that could further their cause.

Renaming parks...that won't change the dynamics of native situation.

Control immigration in Native Lands. We know reserves are ecomomic pits, perhaps if they could get a few extra million people in them, they could become self sustaining cities.

They should certainly have a say on the matter of immigration. AAs in the USA managed to get the country to end white only immigration. Natives can perhaps try and get a few native friendly immigrant policies.

The idea to rename the park is absurd.
It's one thing to rename things like Haida Gwaii and Iqaluit, because people live there and they ultimately have the right to name their town Assholeville if they want.
No one 'lives' in Stanley Park (the homeless vagrants don't count) and it's been a park for 122 years. Put up a plaque about Xwayxway and STFU.
It's like the BS about the Salish Sea. In the rush for PC appeasement, they don't even care that it isn't a goddam sea, it's a strait. It's like renaming a hole a "Gluxfrtg Mountain" because Joe Bob had a trapline there in 1890 before the meteor hit.

Nobody said anything about skilled immigrants here. Natives I've spoken to all have an affection for their central American brethren. They would opt to let a couple million Guatemalans, El Salvadorians and Guyanese natives in.
