Or hell try this, take a bulb, stare at it for 10 second then try and read. Notice how you have a black dot, that something similar to what happens when you get a laser in the eyes. If you are unable to effecivly read, you are unable to pilot a helecopter.

correct there was a black dot there but guess what, i was able to see 98 percent of everything else, i didnt drop the book, didn't fall of my chair, didn't go deaf etc

do these things have proximity sensors or altitude sensors etc to give some indication that your to close to something?. quick question as well, on the link you have
the "2nd p-51 flight" pic, i see three green lights and a red one on the left hand side, are those ever on during flight?

No they do not have that type of sensor only an altitude gauge.

Answer........hopefully when you want to land.

lol so landing in a pitch black night those things come on? how many ?

Wow, two pages of discussion about whether it's OK to blind people piloting an aircraft. Down the rabbit hole we go.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:

They are called 'navigation lights'. Red to port, green to starboard. It goes back to maritime navigation lights.

All aircraft have them. They are to signal direction of movement, speed and size of the aircraft. Funnily enough they are not lasers.

He may have been referring to the picture of the instrument panel. If not then of course you are right on the money. (Red, Left, Port) The three green lights on the panel indicate that each landing gear is lowered and locked.

thats the ones thanks, didnt know what they were for. Its funny, no one said it was ok to blind pilots, what i think is silly is that they charged him for accidentally hitting a chopper (as he claims anyway), anyone who thinks he aimed for the guys eyes AT NIGHT from 1000 feet away is retarded

You and him are the only ones who think it was an "accident."Obviously people with more education than yourself know better.

Yes and if you cannot effectivly read a book, how can you effectivly read your altimeter, the atifical horizon, your speed, your tachometer.... Piloting a helecopter is very complex, I have been told it is like trying to stand on ball 500ft in the air. Try piloting a RC helecopter some time you will see what I mean.

umm i could effectively read the book, fine, luckily an altimeter is bigger then a dot. I actually have 4 rc choppers and fly them all the time, hence my position. They are a bitch to get the hang of though for sure, went through 2 at first lol

If this laser hit the pilots for minutes or even seconds (10,20) at a time, i would have no argument
