How about natives pay for thier injustice. Get a grip I can not harvest them so neither should you, historic rights be damned, I am not going after my historic claims. Maybe I should sue for all the Norwegians that were slaughtered over the years on the Canadian Coasts. Natives wonder why people treat them with contempt.

Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:
Demand that they be allowed to hunt them or poach them like they have been, what's the fucking difference.

Either way the Governments will cave and we'll see every indian in downtown Vancouver wearing eagle feathers on their Native Pride hats.

I am personally sick and tired of seeing 4.01% of the population continually demanding rights and priviledges that the other 95.9% would never dream of being entitled to, and then having our governments give into their tantrums.

Just wait til Islam hits 10%.... you ain't seen nothing yet.

The government can build us all houses, hospitals, schools and the like and they can pay for it. Fuck Yeah!!!!....We'll make Donna our first chief!!!!

I say sure let them hunt the old fashion way too.......................by hand.

There must be money in it for them, otherwise they wouldn't be wanting to do it.

The next year for ceremonial use they'll want million of dollars. We should't give them what they just "want".

Thye law is the law, and it can't be corrpupted by a nation constitutionally bound to "peace, order adn good governance." And that means King George III's Proclamation of 1763 stands, and that means we have legal obligations to First Nations. Time and time again, the federal government has tried to circumvent these obligations, only to be set straight by the Supreme Court. The Indians in BC were not conquered. They did not cede the land. There were virtually no treaties.

Legally, we are on their land.

My idea would be to change to the Indian Act to allow immigration and emigration to/from First Nations. First Nations like to decree that they are sovereign. Well, name me a sovereign First Nation elsewhere, where you have to be racially pure to be a member. It's ludicrous. Once this change wwas enacted, First Nations would have two choices--either restrict immigration to maintain racial purity (in which case Canada, as a nation of conscience, would not deal with them) or allow immigration/emigration (in which case First Nations would become as racilally diverse as the rest of Canada, and a lot of the issues would simply melt away).

Incidentally, for some reason a gun is considered an aboriginal "traditional hunting method." Go figger!

I love this country but sometimes... the baggage it carries is rather annoying. Sometimes I wish I had the chance to get into political office for no other reason than to tell every Quebec Sepretist, every Native whiner and every Muslim fanatic to go fuck themselves. Where's Margaret Thatcher when you need her.

Thank God most of the media I'm reading is not sympathetic to the natives on this one. Things are being said like "traditions can change." Usually it's all bowing and scraping to whatever the natives want, so it's good to see. I think the fact that 50 mutilated eagle carcasses were found on native land here may be playing out, tho the natives of course insist that no aboriginal would do such a thing, and the white man must have planted those carcasses there.

Traditions do have a place, but its time for the Indians to join the 21st Century. To kill an Eagle because you want its feathers for your cute hats is not a good reason to kill anything.

No different than the natives who asserted their right to kill whales. Killed a whale, everybody took a ceremonial piece of it, then it was left to rot on the beach while the people went to eat at MacDonalds. The tradition was that they would have used every last piece of that whale.

BC natives also want the right to harvest sea otters.

Oh, but they'll claim that $1000 bills were part of their ancestral ceremonial head dress

Somebody on this site suggested that we set us a we call our selves first nations "CKA-Nation". Put if is across the USA/Canadian Border then whine and complain to both counties to get millions in settlement money and part morning-noon-and night as part of an ancient religious ceremony. If anybody complains we can whine further and get more money. The more I think about it the better it sounds why not?
