Being part Irish, did you have to fight the urge to use explosives during your 'rebellion'?

Maybe I've read too many Len Deighton novels, but doesn't this whole story sound like a blown cover? Why would CSIS make such a statement if it weren't a preemptive shove "out in the cold"? This is SO 1980s and I, for one, am enjoying this story.

There should not be immigrants that should be elected into office at any level.

Seen some instances where representatives in the Commons that can barely speak fucking English, like WTF is that all about!!!

Some get elected in their riding simply because of the ethnicity of their constituents and nothing else. So whether this sounds racist or not, at least, as a true Canadian, would never fucking betray this country born and bred.

Well the people of Quebec voted for them, and it's their right as citizens.

John LeCarre novels here. I'm thinking the same thing. Especially with the half hearted retraction now. "Well, umm . . .we don't think the problem is all that serious . . so we aren't naming names . . ." Pardon me?!? That only makes us more curious, and they know it.

I think it's China and India myself. They need what we have to develop their economies.

Very good point!

I like how on the news this evening (CTV) the PMOs or Privy Counsel office claims they had never heard of this before.

This is a complete BS cover of their asses and I'm guessing the fact they chose to ignore it has something to do with it coming out to the people the way it did. If they never heard of it before then they are not reading their ITAC bulletins CSIS puts out, which makes them just as stupid.

Of course they can say "We never knew" knowing full well anyone who knows they are full of shyt can't come forward and produce evidence to the contrary without breaking the official secrets act, losing their job and if less lucky going to jail.

Guess who it is trying to influence these guys all you want, who really cares! The point is they are not now, or eventually won't be via coercion, working for those who elected them and whom they share citizenship with.

EXACTLY! It reminds me of that scene from A Fish Called Wanda when Otto gets caught in the Leach's house: "I'm Harvey Manfren... jensen. I'm, uh, with the CIA."

Or those goddamn Chileans...and I've read a lot of La Carre as well. I always wondered why The Night Manager was never done by Hollywood.

Campbell blasts CSIS chief over allegations

Maybe CSIS should look up Harper's ass and see if Bush's hand is still up there.
