I'm no banner waver for Islam but one lunatic is just that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naser_Makarem_Shirazi

This is a highly educated political and religious leader, not some fringe nutbag. His fatwa will be respected because he is respected for his learning, his achievements, and his personal sacrifices during the Islamic Revolution.

Writing him off instead of coming to grips with the fact that millions of people will listen to his words is a strategic error.

Concerning yourself with the inner politics of Iran is also a strategic error. If you are concerned about their treatment of dogs: fine, so am I. But I'm more concerned about the top three countries for capital punishment (humans): China, Iran, United States.

In Iran Bart. It's all relative.

I'm not expecting Mississauga to erupt into a seething mass of canine hunting jihadis mate. Taking the dog out for a walk in Tehran might be out though.

I doubt it. Dogs are a good judge of character and I just can't see a dog opting to be near this guy when it could be sniffing piles of poop on the street.

God bless these people for speaking up for chickens, eh?

$1:
Andrea, who wouldn't give her last name because she has two chickens living in her home and backyard, said chickens have a place in the city. She considers her chickens to be pets.

It's true millions of people will listen him to his fatwa because of who he is and his position in Iranian public society. His fatwas do carry weight.

I do think however that highly educated man needs a few appointment with his psychiatrist. He is cracked.

Ted Kaczynski is likely one of the smartest people living, but that didn't stop him from being nuttier than squirrel shit....and dangerous to boot.
