EyeBrock EyeBrock:
But andy, this guy was held accountable. Police are held accountable and rightly so.

Who's holding the Mohawks in Caledonia accountable? Or the guys in Akwasane?

It's also an 8 year old event. Sounds like muck-raking to me.

Oh, guess I didn't read carefully enough then. Guess the natives scraping the bottom of the protest barrel.

Nobody is holding he Mohawks accountable. You don't ask the gangstas to hold themselves accountable do you? But that's our problem, not theirs. If the people we elect are too scared to do anything about it, it's because they don't have the support of a majority of the voters.

Oh behave.

Politicians think they know best. They don't ask us, they make their minds up without any input.

I would think most people in southern Ontario would welcome some real action in dealing with errant Native Bands but our leaders are too chicken-shit to act.

That's what you get when the salesmen become politicians. They won't make the tough decisions that leaders should be making.

We have let the sales guys run the country for too long.

I thought most politicians were lawyers?

And what they've been selling we've been buying. We can't handle the truth. And the perception of natives as children of the earth, spatial people who should be given spatial rights is pretty wide spread among white people. (Our brown immigrants take seem to have a more realistic view). So natives would get lots of support if the govt ever tried to get tough. Most people just don't care enough, while the natives care passionately - it's the usual wag the dog scenario.

RUEZ RUEZ:
The term "indian" is offensive now? I'll have to inform my native friends.

The term Indian refers to people from India. Native refers to people native to the country where they live. Aboriginal comprise Inuit and Métis of Canada..
I suppose we don't use Indian because of the immigration from that country to avoid confusion..

I'm well aware of all that. I know many natives that call themselves Indian. The point was regarding whether it was offensive or not.

"gangstas" often keep their own accountable, as do the wise guys.

Indians don't want to be accountable for their own actions let alone other Indians.

That's funny. They're called Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations in Saskatchewan, a group they name themselves. Seriously, they have buildings everywhere here.
