See Lemmy your assuming again, assuming I know not what goes on between plays, I do, Personally that shit is Boooooring.
Gimmie Hocky Football, Rugby, MMA, Boxing.
If I want the shit analized out of every sport I watch I'll just pay attention to the panels between innings/periods what have you.
Given that the majority of baseball fans are overweight Americans I'm surprised they even bother. If I wanna challenge my brain I play chess (no I don't watch it on TV)

Gotta disagree with you Lemmy. Baseball is a mind-numbing "past time" as opposed to a real sport. To say that someone who doesn't like watching baseball doesn't understand it, is the same as the art snob who says us unwashed heathens don't "get it" when they rave about a pile of feces shaped like a donut and we call it what it is. A pile of shit.

Thanks for pinch hitting for me, [B-o]

Watching baseball isn't a passive activity. If you don't do the work, you won't enjoy. I'm not trying to convince you of anything or change your mind. But when you say "it's boring" that tells me that you expect the sport to do all the work for you. Baseball's not like that. But those of us who get it sure don't find it boring.

I know opinions are like assholes and everyone has one, but do you honestly think that a pitcher standing there calling for a pitch from the catcher while the batter adjusts his cup is action I'd hate to see your reaction to a sport that involves actual physical activity. 8)

I played a lot of competitive hockey and rugby in my day too. Different sets of skills. But we were discussing the viewing of these sports, not their relative physical exertion levels.

If you want a boring sport, try football. 3 hours of air time, 60 minutes of a running game clock and about 2 minutes of actual game-play.

As a comparison, what's the more entertaining movie: Die Hard or the Godfather? Quantum or Solice or Remains of the Day? Predator or Lawrence of Arabia? Do you want to sit there mindlessly and have the action wash over you or are you prepared to do a little thinking while you watch?

Agreed. I enjoy playing baseball but absolutely cannot sit through a game on TV.

Again, I agree with a condition. The CFL is more fun to watch than the NoFunLeague!

But we aren't talking movies though. 8)

But with the pairings you gave I would watch
1. The Godfather
2. Quanton of Solace(I'm a bit of a Bond fan)
3. Predator for the over the top performances and the almost non-stop senseless violence!

Would those be your choices every time? You'd ALWAYS take the blow-em-up over a thinker like Lawrence of Arabia or Remains of the Day? But, yeah, we weren't talking about movies. I think you got my point, though, as it relates to comparing watching a baseball game to watching a hockey game. I can appreciate that people like action-paction (if I pay $10 to see a movie on the big screen, I wanna see some shit get blown up). I like a good hockey game too, but baseball isn't boring just because it isn't the same type of furious action as hockey or rugby. You just have to be into the game enough to do the homework and the thinking while you watch.

Then again, this thread is about an asshole being tazed by another asshole, isn't it?

People on this thread can say they think it is out of line. But, deep down inside, I have a hard time believing that people don't find his funny. For some reason every time I watch the video of this I get the Benny Hill sound track running through my head.....

Which I still find humourous! Why can't fans just understand that the field is the players office and you are now trespassing! PDT_Armataz_01_35 (pretend it's a taser)

Either way, not sure if the great majority of baseball fans take the sport so seriously with all the stats and everything. Surely, not ''all'' are that devoted to it.

As in any other sports, fans are mostly there, both in attendance or on TV, for the pure enjoyment of the game. If that means that some fans have the whole kit, stat sheets & pitch counts, then fine. But that should not demean the rest of these fans that cheer any particular game on. No sport could be that successful without that sort of fanbase.
