She has enough of one. She's a lot like Bush, terrible at leading a country like the US, but she's a shrewd enough politician to know what can make people like her and what she has to say to keep them hanging off of her every word.

Of course those people are the same 30% of American that thought Bush did a great job no matter what, that Jesus is coming back in the next few years, and that dinosaurs and humans coexisted without having the seen the documentary Jurassic Park

Some are like that I'll grant you but the majority of her base are the people who just don't like being told what to do. Sorta like Texas is always flirting with the idea of going separate ways like Quebec keeps promising up here. It's not that they are dumb or bible thumping fanatics it is just they will not be cajoled and any attempts are viewed with suspicion and skepticism. Some see that as stubborn or stupid but I respect them. I may not agree but they have their point and I don't think anyone should deny their right to exist. That's where Palin's true power base stems from and she may very well be the death of the GOP but right now she is the best they got.
