Brenda Brenda: She doesnt??? WTF??? Pharmacists make $45/hr. An automechanic makes $20/25/hr and DOES have to go back to school (well, not in BC, but they do in Ontario and AB...). RN's have to go back to school, but pharmacists don't? I think you misunderstood. She learned pharmacy. She has her diplomas. But, she needs to learn french and get her license here to practice. Like the law bar.

Doesn't mean foreign diploma's mean anything. You can not be an anything professionally if you do not speak the language. You cannot go to "pharmacy-school" in Canada, if you do not speak the language. So where is she a pharmacist? In Egypt?

And, of course she needs to learn french for that. That's why she says she's a victim because we are stopping her to fulfill her dreams and from working because she cannot go to school.

She can take her niqab off, or do an online course. I just finished an online course (because what I wanted is not offered here) and paid for it myself. Her point? Stop playing the martyr card, its getting old.

Interesting how its alway us who are stopping them etc. Suggestion, why don't they take responsibility for themselves and go with the flow. If you want to work and live here then do what it takes. I am a proud Québecer and I am happy the government is taking a stand. Enough is enough..

$1: Bullshit.. as male tourist maybe. I know doctors and nurses who have been there to work..surgeons, whose wives had to put the burka on to go off the compounds.. were you military on a base etc.. nice try though... and ya one of those nurses was my sister-inlaw.. you sure didn't live there.. My grandmother's youngest brother spent 15 years in Dubai, and one of my mom's cousin spent 7 years in Abu Dhabi, with their wives and families. They never faced any of these impositions when they left the compounds. The only thing was their wives had to have a male driver and that women dress conservatively when in mixed company. I myself lived and worked ina Muslim country for 4 years and saw little attempt to limit the freedom of non Muslim/Western women working there.....not even the PC dumbshits that worked for UNHCR and UNESCO. Had we been discusssing Saudi Arabia, our wonderful ally , I'd believe this whole heartedly. Those pricks need to be bombed into the Stone Age...and hopefully their society will keep progressing.

RN's have to go back to school, but pharmacists don't? I imagine she has to learn enough French in order to go back to school and be certified. I can't picture her working in a real pharmacy though because sh'e going to have to deal with men.

Not sure, but I know these people worked in Iraq,Iran, Afghanistan during the last post war.. They showed us pics of the women wearing the burkas. And my sister-inlaw still has hers. I just know that this is becoming a major problem in Québec and we will soon have racial tension. Really why should we have to change and accomodate everyone who comes here..

kenmore kenmore: stokes stokes: So now the truth comes out, it isn't the school that has the issue but the government representative and only because it is considered a public service. This poor woman getting the shaft by very intolerant people.
I am also thinking that she is already a qualified pharmacist, which believe it or not there is a demand in Canada.
I have received a bit of a hard time for defending this lady's right to wear her religious accoutrement, but we are mot only a multi-cultural society, but we are a country that has had a positive record for acceptance of others. Maybe I am just stupid but I really dont see why so many are getting all negative about her and her choices. She isnt hurting anyone so what exactly is the problem? p OH please! you go over there and see how much tolerance you get.. headscarfs are one thing.. this type of garb is crap and there is no place in our society for it. Oh shut it down, already. Really, one of the things we claim to be proud of is our more advanced outlook on multi-culturalism as opposed to the amazingly outdated and dogmatic foolishness, in some of the more backward countries that many on this site gnash their teeth over. I don't care what she wears as long as she doesn't expect to me to treat her any differently than anyone else. If she doesn't good for her. If she does, go to hell! Kinda like demanding restaurants warm the chair for me before I sit down in my kilt! Maybe that's a thought...

Every post makes you look more like a hypocrite... one that's just too dumb to even see it.

I just know that this is becoming a major problem in Québec and we will soon have racial tension. Really why should we have to change and accomodate everyone who comes here.. They don't usually wear burqas in Iran(except for the rural and uneducated people, which aren't very common in Iranian society). Mostly, they wear a headscarf, like many eastern European Christian and Orthodox Jewish women do. Irag was extremely egalitarian and secular by middle eastern standards. Only a very few women wore burqas there, most women wore a scarf at most. Saddam actually kept his foot on the throat of the religious radicals. With a few notable exceptions, this tends to be a Sunni tradition, more than a Shia one and differs from one nation to another. Except for Saudi Arabia(and Afghanistan under the Taliban), which I've already mentioned, The gov't in these countries don't require women to wear a tarp. It's a religious and cultural matter, not a legal one.

Excuse me sir, I just couldn't help notice your wife always has her face covered. She must be extremely fucking ugly, so you'd better get her fixed in the next couple weeks because they're taking away the tax deduction for elective surgeries. Just trying to be helpful, no need to get so pissed off!
Or does anyone else get these flashes of Jeff Goldblum as "the Fly" holding a kerchief over his face and sucking up soup with his proboscis? Just me?
