The west didn't quietly sit idly while Mugabe uprooted thousands of white farmers, even if they knew it would destroy country based on export agriculture anyhow. The country has been heavily punished for its actions.

Because what they did was wrong.

The same thing happens with natives in Brazil's Amazon (today), thousands are uprooted for soya farms without compensation and end up in city slums, the world doesn't bat an eye.

You're confounding two completely separate issues. Africville has nothing to do with the cross burning. The people who burned the cross knew the family, it wasn't a random thing. Who knows if it's about race at all, or a feud between the two groups that the cross burners chose to give racial overtones.

As for Africville, the issue is was fair compensation paid? If so, lots of white folks in Canada have also lost their land and homes because of expropriation. They are rarely happy about it, but no apology is issued and no further compensation paid to a white cultural group.

You want to expand the issue to Zimbabwe and Brazil, feel free, but now you're really off topic. At least Africville still has to do with racism in Nova Scotia.

Of course it’s a race issue, the connotation and historical significance of a burning cross on a lawn in itself shows it was a racist taunt.
