I think "they" (whoever the hell "they" might be), had that network before 9/11.

Fact is, if you go to the states without a visa, to your husband, no return ticket, you are bound for questioning.
When I went to NYC a couple of months ago, to visit a friend, I was asked a lot of questions, and I left my kids and my mortgage here. They treated me like I was not coming back, and i had a return ticket!
