2.3 deg C over a century would have some pretty significant impacts, I think. Not Armageddon stuff, but still significant. Look at the Pine Beetle here in BC.

They don't exist. More Al Gore lies. The trees are green. It's socialists in BC trying to cheat on forest subsidies again.
The salmon aren't all way the hell up in Alaska either, the gov't inquiry is fake. It snowed yesterday that proves its bullshit.

What I fixated on was this...

They're not "Wrong" though, just not 100% accurate.

Again check out the difference between the high end, and the real world trend lines. This thread concerns a prediction above that high end. It's nuts.

Don't be telling me not to look behind the curtain. My name's not Dorothy.

Who cares about the "High end", even the IPCC downplays those figures as unreliable.

You still don't get it do you, and I don't get why you can't get it.

Whatever...let's try one more time. There was an article posted at the beginning of this thread. It's what the thread is supposed to be about. The Richard Black article is titled "Earth heading for 6C warming". That high end trend in the IPCC models is +5.3C. My math is not great, but even I know 5.3 is less than 6, so I'm pretty sure that's not what you're having trouble with.

I think what it is, is the cognitive dissonance in your brain just won't allow you to make the connection between the insanity of trying sell that high end model trend as possible, when you compare it to what's actually happening with real world temperatures, and the fact it's actually lower than the fantasy Richard Black is trying to sell you on in the article.

That particular climate lie gets even better though. We sometimes see these hysterical MSM articles where they pick up a press release from some whack-a-doodle sciencey-ist saying the IPCC underestimated the possible warming by as much as 3 degrees (the actual number I've heard is 9). In fact, maybe Hyack will treat us to one of those before Copenhagen finally arrives.

BTW did you hear that Gore is now claiming “several million degrees” at “2 kilometers or so down”.

I guess since he's been proven wrong so many times on temps above, he's decided to go terranaut.

You need a Mirror. No Cognitive Dissonance here. Like I already said, there are wide ranges of results depending on the Study. This is not New or unexpected.

I agree 2.3 degrees might not sound like much, but think of it this way, if your temperature goes up 2.3 degrees, that a fever and can injure or kill you, if it gets too high. I do agree that it likely won't be the end of the world, but it could have some damned serious consequences for us.

Like you said, imagine if the pine beetle spreads across the Canadian Shield? Goodbye forestry industry and goodbye carbon sink. Not good. Or what if that's enough to start melting even part of the permafrost? All of a sudden, tons of methane could be released into the atmosphere. And as even the deniers know, methane is far, far worse than carbon dioxide. Then there's the question of how much of a rise in global temperature is needed to melt the polar ice permanently. And so on...

BC will likely look like California in a century. At least the Interior anyway. However, they are already on top of the issue and are trying to Plant the proper species of trees in the right places to prevent total Forest loss.

One study says the temperature is rising. Another says it isn't. How about a little common sense instead of tossing out an endless plethora of dubious science? If I smoke cigarettes and my doctor does a physical and can't find anything wrong with me, that doesn't mean cigarettes aren't hurting (killing) me. Resource management is a component of efficiency and a sound basis for policy.
