PENATRATOR PENATRATOR: Brenda Brenda: ROTFL . Hell, you can't break the law in your former country without being punished, why would you be able to do it here? Because this is Canada, if we prosecute you (not you personally), or the Police even speak to you in a stern tone, it's racial profiling, discrimination ect ect, a whole hockey sock full of defense lawyers are just licking their chops to take that to the supremem court and make a name for themselves. Oh crap, I forgot... Damn... I should just go try and see if I can get rich

I don't really care either way, too. But, if you want my opinion, I'd say it's a good thing for students to do. We would be far better off singing the national anthem, than allowing our child to hear an objective opinion on sexuality by a homosexual teacher that we are not allowed to dismiss.

Why would we want to dismiss a homosexual teacher? And why can't he or she have their opinion? Isn't homosexuality, as well as transsexuality a part of sex ed? If it isn't, it should be.

I'm well in the 'sing the National Anthem daily' camp. Canada's culture is already splintered enough, catering to this new "Canadian" group, that group and another will come along in 5 minutes, unlike TTC buses.
The National Anthem is one of the Canadian ties that bring us all together, it's about unity, pride in Country and being a Canadian.

My preference is for it to be sung each day in school. We also recited the Lords Prayer (Protestant version). We did have Catholics and Jews in the school and some other religions too. The reality is that today that would not be appropriate anymore.

That's the beauty of being a left-footer. My kids can say the 'Our Father', the odd 'Hail Mary', sing 'O Canada' and wish everybody a 'Merry Christmas', all at school!
God bless the BNA!

I had to sing the Anthem every day in school, when it started no matter where you were in the school you had to stop until it ended.
Its about teaching our kids two things, to be proud of our country and to know the anthem. If people have a problem with that they aren't Canadians.
Who'd-a thunk patriotism would be considered a bad thing. Obviously some parents are into self-loathing. Fine, whatever floats their boats but dont drag the rest of us down with them.

They should float their boats back to where ever they came from.

PENATRATOR PENATRATOR: My 4 year old's favorite part of his school day is standing for the anthem, and he is SUPER pissed on the nights TSN or CBC don't show the anthem before puckdrop, while only 4, he is a proud Canadian, and in my opinion, pride in this country is not being taught to our youth. That and the ridiculous immigration attitudes we have. (DISCLAIMER, I have no probs with immigration and people remembering where they came from, but if you want to live here, you need to learn to be Canadian) (no this is not directed at a certain Dutch immigrant who posts here regularily heheh) Give your son a high five for me, that's awesome.

I am all for the O Canada in schools.
Also at sporting events, especially when the crowd gets involved, as in a hockey game in Edmonton a few years ago. The crowd sang it loud and proud.

EyeBrock EyeBrock: They should float their boats back to where ever they came from. Agreed, if people have a problem with their kids saying they love Canada once and awhile. They can go ahead and get them exempted from participating from signing the anthem, and then then the dumbass parent can face the wraith of the child when he/she comes home complaining about being judged as an outcast due to some parents projected insecurities. Idiots. Love it or leave it.

What if you don't see the Anthem as "loving the country"?
I HATE the Dutch Anthem. Does that make me less Dutch? I don't think so...
